I bought a dog bed...she won't use it!!! I see people who have said their doodles prefer the cold tile floor. Some say right out of the box, they LOVE their bed!  Ours will lay on the dog bed for a while and then get off to go to the carpet or tile. She is discoloring the carpet!! My husband won't let her on the couches or beds except my daughters bed...  so it's not like she is snoozing in chairs or on the sofa!  Do I give it more time, exchange for a different fabric or return the bed and forget about it?  I thought with her bad hips, the dog bed would be a better place than the hard carpet .

Both my dogs use their Costco round beds some of the time. Calla roams from one place to another at night and Luca mostly shares my bed.

You guys made my night! Such funny stories and pictures! Sleeping on air conditioning vents? Sleeping upside down! That is funny! We bougt two different beds. One is like the bed Hattie has and we also bought one from orvis that is a memory foam but it is a fleece lammy type  material. I saw where some reviews said their dog bed took four days to be claimed by their dog so maybe it will take some time, but it was pricey and now I may have buyers remorse. I thought maybe I should switch it for the cotton one, if it is even cotton. The blerb does not say. If she can stay on the human bed all day, she must be cool so maybe one with similar fabric would be a better choice or maybe the human bed just smells like my daughter so much that it is heavenly? We should sleep on the dog bed for a few days so it will smell like us.  lol  When I say she discolored the carpet....she sleeps in the same spots so they are looking dirty and you can see a big difference. I bathe her often too! I wanted to put the bed down in my room on that spot so she would be near me but she continues to jump off her doggie bed to lay in a different area on the carpet.

Try putting a blanked on the spot where she sleeps. That might help keep the dirt. I need to wash our white bathroom rugs periodically since you can definitely tell where Monty's filthy mouth is resting. Our house carpets are light brown, so fortunately, the dirt does not show. :-)

I did decide to use Willow's bed for myself when she didn't seem that interested. I love sitting on the floor, and the doggie bed I got was cheaper than human one's of that size. But every time I sit on it, that's when Willow wants it. She comes and lies down at the corner that is not covered by me, and of course most of her body is off the bed. That's the doggie psychology... go figure... :)

Orvis is usually very good about returns.  You might consider the beds with the bead filling, I think it is cooler than memory foam which can be very warm to sleep on.  I had a Lab mix (part Chow) coat who ran so hot I had to hose him down every day after work during the summer and he loved his Orvis denim bed with the bead filling.

I sent it back today. I am going to call an Orvis store and talk to an associate because the people who answer the phone for the catalog really don't know anything. Maybe they can tell me what  people say and recommend..I will check on the bead filling one. Thank you for the suggestion.

Maybe put a sheet over the bed, or put it on the area of carpet that she sleeps on--a sheet may be cooler and more comfortable for her. My doodles are all different and one only goes on the beds occasionally.

Ha, I tried that and she went to where the sheet wasn't and layed down..Little stinker.

Put a throw rug on the carpet where she lays to protect it from discoloring, or buy a cheaper pillow-type bed and be done with it.  My dogs sleep everywhere.  Sadly, they are allowed on furniture and Ned sleeps on the couch backs (this I hate cuz it is ruining them), dog beds, tile floor, stair steps, our bed, leaning against the tiled tub on the tile floor, under the tables......

If my husband was a total dog person like I am.... our doodle would have the same lifestyle!  If we were going to be able to have a dog (me and my four kids) we had to agree on the NO DOGS ON THE FURNITURE rule...  It totally kills me...but if that was what it was going to take for us to have a dog...then oh well. BUT I crave to sleep with her! She's so warm and cuddly, who can resist!

Bruin has NEVER slept on his bed...too much information here, but he only uses it for humping!!!

Well, then he did LOVE his bed,  didn't he!  :)
