Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I bought my F1B Goldendoodle two months ago.  Not only have we had digestive issues from day one but he looks like a Golden Retriever with very little poodle and he sheds like crazy!  Please, take me serious when I say, "like crazy".  My daughter's allergies are going crazy and we have to take him back to the breeder.  My concern is that we have already put $300.00 extra on top of the purchase price in two months on this precious dog to get his stomach issues resolved and I'm scared the breeder will not give him the proper food (Life's Abundance) and take his issues seriously.  What are the chances of finding someone to buy him that will take care of him and not mind his shedding? He's our little man and letting him so is breaking our heart,  My little girls have cried everyday along with myself.  He is such a good dog and the smartest I've ever seen.   I only paid $650.00 for the dog and she is offering me another from her next liter because of the trouble we've had with our doddle.  I just don't know what to do.  I lost my job last week so we ca';t afford to pay more than the $650.00 for another doddle.  I know I sound like a sad case and I'm sorry for that but I'm very desperate for some advice.

I have been following your post and all I can say is Moms rule!

You and your Mom, good luck to both of you and especially Chance. Maybe the doodle expert can recommend a supplement for the dry skin and coat and for the gastro issues.

Good things are coming your way, heck they just started.

((((((hugs)))))) to all of you.

Thank you so much!!

I am so relieved to hear that your dog might get to stay with you. Have you tried Evening Primrose Oil Capsules for his coat? Do a search for EPO and plenty of information should come up. Basically, you give one a day for his coat and you find them in the store in the Vitamin section. (they are for people) I just don't know at what age you can start them for a puppy. Hopefully, Karen will respond. Also, the Food Group is a great place for food information. I do know there are better foods than Life's Abundance and that might help, too. Once, the Giardia is cleared up, some things should go better.

Oh I am so glad that you seem to be working things out and that you can get your daughter allergy tested.  Allergies can really be difficult to live with, but the good news is that definitely do swing up to less bothersome for years at a time and then again become more difficult to manage for awhile.

Good fortune does seem to have found you, with a lot of creative help from you and your mom.  Also I am please to here that your breeder is refunding your money, even though it took a bit of pressure.  Keep your chin up, it is even quite possible that your daughter's allergy is due in large part to your dog's skin condition, especially since she seemed to tolerate your mom's dog.

Thank you Maryann - My mom seen how bad it was hurting us to give him up. Honestly, it would not have been as bad if he wasn't sick but I did not want to risk him getting sicker and he feel like we abanded him.  That was just  breaking my heart.

Hopefully another Happy Ending to a tough beginning. Please keep us posted and good luck with the new arrangement and I hope that breeder comes through with the $$.

She said the check would be in the mail today so I should have it by Friday.  I'm crossing my fingers!  LOL

As long as you don't hold your breath :0)

Carrie-I'm so happy that your mom could help out-but...wouldn't her dog have a chance of catching what your puppy has right now?? I don't know much about it, just what I read here. I thought it was contagious?? Just a thought.  I hope this situation helps and I'm so happy the breeder knows that you were going to take it on legally and is giving your money back. I think all the people you talked to should get theirs back as well. I'm glad your daughter is getting tested, maybe it's not the actual dog afterall? Keep us posted-thinking of you guys!

Hi Jennifer and yes, my mother's dog could get it.  Chance is on a seven day medication and he will staying home (just spending more time outisde) until his medication is finished and he is re-checked.  My mom's home is just a solution until the shedding stops or slows down.  Hopefully, when I meet with this lady tomorrow she can give me some advice.

Good! Can't wait to hear what she says tomorrow-it could benefit a lot of people! Good luck!

She says the check is on it's way and that she will never breed the mom and dad together again because of all the issues with the pups.  Lets pray this to be true!
