St. Paddy's is coming right up and as usual I'll be making corned beef with cabbage, red potoates and carrots. Yummy if I do say and I'll be having guests as well. It ocurred to me that now that I know Nicky - my first really Irish friend - that perhaps I should also make an authentic Irish dessert. I have no clue what that might be. I'm actually a better baker than I am a cook so this might be fun. So - I'm asking Nicky to enlighten me on Irish desserts - I'm guessing Baileys Irish Cream doesnt' qualify - lol. Or any others of you of Irish decent - what is your favorite Irish dessert receipe?

Oh...I'd love to my friend!!
I do think that will happen...
Perhaps with Bethany...and Riley of course!
Only wish Sasha could come...(smile)
I went with the Irish Whiskey Cake - I used Jameson's brand so I'm gunna call this Jameson's Irish Whiskey Cake. It has a chocolate cake base baked with whiskey and then you infuse a whiskey, sugar, water, butter glaze into the cake and some over the top. Lots of whiskey so I'm going to make some whipped cream to serve it with to kinda cut that a little bit.
The top - is chopped pecans baked in.
is this a picture of what you made? it looks good! I'm coming over. be there in 27 hours or so. ;)
Oh does this look good! My family is pushing back...they want brownies and choc chip cookies. I told them that just isn't Irish...they said "so what". I may still go ahead with the Guinness cake.
Put green icing on the brownies.
Go for it. Maybe they'll help more if you get tough.
looks wonderful!
Jameson is my 'go to' drink and favorite Irish Whiskey. That looks scrummy
That looks scumptious.
anyone who hasn't discovered Pinterest.com should check it out. Do a search for St. Patricks Day Desserts. Lots of pretty looking green desserts! (Beware though as Pinterest can be addicting and since we are all already addicted to DK, you may not have any leftover time for Pinterest.
I'm Irish and my granny used to give us butter and sugar on white bread and call it dessert. :) Times were tough when she was growing up. I was born here but all my friends are from Ireland. Our favorite dessert is Pavlova, OMG it is like a little slice of heaven in your mouth. It originated in New Zealand but has been adopted by the Irish.
