I FOUND THE LABRADOR RETRIEVER CONNECTION IN MY ALD!!!

Today I got from Lani's breeder her Pedigree.  It only goes back to her great-great grandparents so I started researching them.  I was able to find out using her great-great grandparents names and tracing backwards that her great-great-great-great grandfather was a champion Labrador Retriever!  I think it's kinda awesome because I've heard how hard it is to trace back to a Labrador Retriever with ALD's!  I'm so psyched!!!

So, if the Lab was that far back, what were the other generations?  Were they all ALD's?  (Obviously I'm clueless about ALDs - lol!)

Did you use the American Kennel Club pedigree database to do your search?  I had fun digging in their database while I was waiting on Harlow's breeder to send her maternal pedigree.  It is kind of like Ancestry.com for dogs. :)

lol I totally forgot about the AKC pedigree database.  I'm gonna go check that out.  Actually how I found it was I just started typing into google names on Lani's pedigree, finding the ones that matched and looking at their pedigree and going backwards that way lol.  But I think if I go onto the AKC pedigree database I could probably trace back further.  Oh this is gonna be fun!!! lol I like knowing Lani's heritage... except for all her jumping there is no Kangaroo in her pedigree lol :)

So quick update :)  I researched some,more and it's really interesting.  Below is the full run-down of my research and I was able to pinpoint at least with one dog on Lani's pedigree where the first infusion of poodle x labrador retriever happened.  Lani is an ALD with mainly Tegan Park / Rutland lines.  Her father though doesn't have as many Tegan Park / Rutland ancestors so the Labrador and Poodle I can trace to his direct lines which is pretty cool.  So below is what I found out about Lanis Great-Great Grandparents to Great-Great-Great-Great Grandparents.  I really think it's so awesome that I was able to find this exact connection.  It's also on Lani's father's side that I found the "Irish Connection" with a Tegan Park ancestor, Tegan Park Fantasy Irland.

It really is awesome!  Since she's an ALD I would love to find the other breeds infused further back in her lines, but I don't think I can trace that lol

Joanie, I did the same with Riley and found most of his relations going back five generations, there were ALD"S, Poodles a Labrador, and I found Cocker Spaniel.  I googled the names of the dogs and went to images and then  scrolled down and found them all by a process of elimination.  It is a great fun thing to do.
