The HDA trophy travels from the west coast to the east coast and arrived in Hillsborough,NJ

It was a damp, gloomy day and I was suffering with a bad cold, when the mail carrier came to the door with a box from Lynda Kamrath in CA. I carried the box into the living room and cut it open with a knife. Jersey and Jasmine was sniffing like crazy, trying to see what was inside. The duck toy that Groucho Too and Harpo sent must have been calling Jersey. She grabbed it out of the box and was running around throwing it up in the air and shaking it. She finally shared it with Jasmine, who perferred to snuggle with it. Lynda, who is very talented and creative made us a photo canvas of the "Jersey Girls" in the St Patty's day costumes, two hand made pillow covers. Her husband, Charlie made a handsome business card holder out of wood. Lynda also enclosed two of her books for me to read. "The Taking" by her favorite author, Dean Koontz and another, "Dog On It" , Spencer Quinn. Then, I found the HDA Trophy all wrapped up carefully in foam and bubble wrap. Of course the girls had to check it out and pose for their photo. I enjoyed reading through the journal, and seeing how far this trophy and journal had travelled before it got to me. We are thrilled with all of our beautiful gifts that Lynda sent and hope the person that receives the box from us will be happy with it's contents as well.

NEW CHANGES IN THE WAY THE HDA TROPHY WILL BE FORWARDED ON:

"According to Adina, everyone on the current HDA list who wants the trophy has now had it. So, because we can only see past the current HDA list, the way we'll be determine the next HDA recipient from now on will change starting now! If you have reached HDA status and have not yet received the trophy then you can be NEXT simply by responding to this discussion and stating so! First come, first serve! Let me know that you want to be next and if you have HDA status on your page, you'll be the next to receive this trophy!"

If the origial list is no longer 'on active duty' would it not be the wiser to start a new and clean list ---'just for the fun of it'? That way someone who really wants to get on the list for the trophy would not have to wait a long 3 plus years for their name to come up. I think it would be more advantageous to those that wait to have a faster moving list available so they can receive the trophy before their hair turns gray. To me, and I don't mean to be a "Debbie Downer" here, that enthusiasm would remain high upon a faster moving list. For some, getting to a point system high enough to get on the list is unattenable crushing their dream to get the trophy. Hey, Adina....how about a list where the trophy goes around with a gift to the next name along with something that will remain within the box to be given out to someone going through difficult times. The remaining gift should be small and lightweight--or just sent to you under a different title for special times under your discretion. I better log off now before everyone starts to throw tomatos at me.

The whole point is that it goes to those who have reached Hopeless Doodle Addict status. All one has to do is be a regular participant on DK. It makes sense to me to have something related to participation. There are other contests and games members come up with and play (limerick contests, logic games, etc) regularly and they send on prizes to each other, etc. You could participate in those without having to earn points, etc. They are in the Discussion Forum all the time. But the Hopeless Doodle Addict trophy was created to recognize those members who are active participants on this site. Active participants earn points. You will have earned points simply by responding to this discussion. You can earn points by leaving comments on members' pages, joining groups, commenting on blogs, discussions, etc. So there soon will no longer be a list, but those with HDA status will be able to get the prize simply by responding quickly to upcoming announcements.

I get your point, Adina, but it still locks out those that absolutely love doodles but feel awkward posting to strangers or rushnig to get things done just to earn points. I'm not saying that your wrong in your point system but so many would be left out -- left behind in the dust of those that don't or can't spend so many hours on the computer.I know I am outnumbered here and your idea has certainly stired up a lot of enthusiasm for 'the list'. One I could never achieve.. There are days I can't even get through my email.I guess I'll just havto send gifts to myself. I am still a doodle lover from the word go I just could not keep up.
