Maggie's nose is really dry. A little piece of the black nose (on top) has rubbed off even. I am putting vasoline on it. Any suggestions or experience with that?

My dog always has a dry nose. Vet said it was not a sign of illness in dogs - he said that is an old wives tale. He suggested putting vaseline on it also. I just got used to it.
Daisy's nose is hardly ever wet, usually dry...so much so that DH and I both notice if it's cold and wet. Daisy is perfectly healthy. I do put sunscreen on her nose in the summer.
Quincy's nose is dry most of the time so I don't think that is anything to be concerned about.
Kramer has had a dry nose on just the left side for some time now. As you can see in this pic. the holistic vet said it could be caused by a zinc deficiency. She gave me zinc pills, and some vitamin E capsules. I'm not sure if his is ever going to be normal again. The tissue even looks necrotic to me.
If you click on the picture you can see the dry area better.
Have you consulted a dermatologist for Kramer's nose?
I did not think of that. I wondering why the 2 vets that saw him would not of recommended that I see one. He has had a tissue sample looking for cancer cells though. I might see if I can find a dermatologist in my area.
I did a self referral (following Karen's recommendation!) to a dermatologist for Camus' ear infections and am glad I did.
That looks like something you might want to get checked out with a Vet.
I read about that too. I think between the two vets, one would of caught that. He is not showing any other symptoms. The odd part is, is that it's only on one side.
I'm thinking maybe he got his nose frost bitten, and killed some of the nose tissue.
