Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I groomed a friend's F1 goldendoodle today--and she had the most unusual color pattern! The owner said that she was a black pup, then got golden in areas later on and the black on her "saddle" turned gray--The bottoms of her ears are black but the tops are red and the tail is black but the underside is tan. She is just 2 years old and so pretty with big black eyelashes!
Her coat type was different too--all the cream colored areas were soft and fluffy and the black areas were coarser--like two different dogs glued together!
Is there a name for this pattern or is it unique? She was a lovely dog--you can see in the second photo that she was so relaxed, she just laid down on the table for last minute photos.

I have never seen any doodle quite like this.
I'm thinking sable and something else. What were her parents?
To me, the color pattern looks more like an Airedale than a poodle, with the tan head and forelegs and dark saddle on the back.
In doodle/poodle terms, I guess it could just be a parti-color with sable and cream or gold.
Whatever it's called, she is a striking dog!
I thought Airedale too as soon as the picture popped up....can't imagine the changes from a black doodle!
And FYI...my Black Doodle has white skin!
My white doodle has black skin :) LOL
weird!! And adorable!!
Spud has multiple colors on his skin but does not show up in the coat. I agree, this does look like an Airedale pattern. Genetics. You just never know what you might find when you go back a few years
This is a great illustration...genetics are very interesting! I'm soon to be a guardian for a red and white parti so I've been reading and looking at lots of pictures lately. I agree, a beautiful doodle!
Thanks! I was thinking phantom too---I know the mom was a golden, but not sure what color the poodle was--will try to find out. This woman thought she was buying a black dog when she picked a black puppy--surprise!
Airedale doodle - coloring anyhow. My rescue Clancy's white fur is soft as can be and the red is coarse - definitely two dogs put together :-}
