We cut Toby's nails, but they're still so darn sharp! I get marked up like I've been wrestling a thorn bush. How do you guys keep your Doodle's nails from being so scratchy?
I use a 100/100 file on my dogs nails. (our trianer handed them out in ob. class, ..I have also seen them in the general stores..it is about 3 or 4 inches long) Smoothes them right out, the only trick that I do is to apply your finger over the top of the nail and file then upward so the nail is not yanked up and down...my dogs seem to not mind this at all, they lay back and really relax during this time, and I really don't even have to clip if I file often enough.,,but if I do clip this takes the sharpness off really well.

I have been filing lately too. Little miss thing has really sharp skinny nails and she likes to swat at you in play :)
It has worked really well and she doesn't seem to mind at all.
I purchased the Peticure and findit very easy to use. I introduced it to Samantha over a few days.
-Left it on in one hand while feeding her treats in the other.
-Next time I did that again but added holding the Peticure in the same hand while treating her for her to feel the vibration of the machine.
-I then put the treats on the Peticure for her take them off the handle.
When I finally put it to her foot, she had no problem.
Very easy to use
I agree. I have the peticure and it is very easy to use. I work on Xena's nails every couple days and it has made a huge difference. I don't always do all of her nails at once. I just do a paw or two and when she gets restless I stop. I wouldn't say she loves it but she does tolerate it. I imagine in time I will be able to do all her nails at once.
I ordered and just received the PediPaws today. All Lucy is doing today with it is barking, and that is without the batteries in it. I will try and put the batteries in it tomorrow. They do advise to introduce it to the dog over several days. I hope she get used to it as easy as Samantha. Thanks for letting us know how you did it.
Yes, I saw that on the T.V. They made using it look so easy. Interesting to know dogs don't like the sound/vibration. Knowing how Finn is whenever we wave an electric toothbrush in his direction, perhaps we'll leave it and save ourselves a few bucks.
Hi Sandy,
Just wanted to know what you decided to do with Toby's nails? File or Pedicure or???
How's it going? I have to go and work on Samantha's - they are getting just a tad long.
Adrianne
I was watching TV one day and they had that nail trimmer that is more like a sander I had just clipped CeeGee's nails a couple of days before seeing that and because her nails are so dark, I clipped the quick~ouch. I thought the next time I'd use my dremel tool. I did use it but found that the barrel shaped sanding wheel I had was too coarse, so I went and got a really fine one and that's what I use and her nails are nice and smooth!
