I'm curious... Where does your doodle sleep? If you say in your bedroom, does he/she sleep on your bed? Or on the floor?
I love when my doodle sleeps with me. This is a new occurance but I do love it! He's a big boy about 70lbs. So when he's on the bed he takes up a lot of space. My problem is he's still young and a restless sleeper and is now starting to get on and off the bed multiple times a night which is really starting to interupt what little sleep I get. I don't want to have to put him back in the kitchen, where his ex-pen is but I'm now a night 4 of no sleep... Any suggestions?

LOL, it must be a doodle thing since this could easily be Monty (83 lbs)! He sleeps exactly the same way, both in his and our bed. In addition, he likes to prop his legs (does not matter which pair) on the nearest sleeping human. That I would wake up to him kicking me since he is having a dream about running. I'm a light sleeper as well but I'm getting immune to his jumping on and off the bed. He usually sleeps on his bed in our bedroom, but in the middle of the night he goes into the bathroom to sleep on the cooler tile. And sometimes he just decides he wants to sleep on the bed with us (fortunately, it has never been the entire night). It's usually when it's windy or rainy or cold outside. But wait, the other day it was hot and we had our ceiling fan on...he slept on the bed right under the fan. So I guess it's up to him where he sleeps... whatever feels the most comfortable to him at the moment. I have to say I LOVE sleeping with him in the bed after my husband leave for work. Then there is a plenty of room. But if it's all three of us in the bed, there is not room. And I have NO idea how it's going to look like when we get our second doodle....
Hilarious pose! Doods are so funny when they sleep...LOL
Owen sleeps like this too, but not Kona. Funny doods.
Sadie sleeps like this all the time. She always goes to sleep on the floor next to my bed, but I often wake up to find her sprawled across the bed just like this in the middle of the night!
My kitchen is quite large so I've had to put him back in the ex pen (his crate is attached to either side of the pen) so he can sleep on the floor or in his crate. I'm thinking of getting a gate to block off the kitchen so he has more room to roam. Still can't him let him roam through the house, this boy will eat anything get his paws on.... Another issue I'm working..
I wish I was a better sleeper....
Oliver is now 3 yrs old, but he sleeps in our room in his crate, not because I want him too, he just does. When I say it is nite nite time, he makes a dash for our bedroom, goes into his crate and waits for his treat(cookie) and lays down and goes to sleep. He will bark if I don't close the cage door, lol. Sometimes he will come up on our bed before going to his crate, for some rubs and cuddles, but then he jumps off and goes in his crate. He is like me, a creature of habit, lol...
Tara is a mini but I still don't let her sleep on the bed mainly because, like you, I'm light sleeper and need by beauty rest! LOL.. She sleeps in her bed on the floor at the foot of my bed. She sometimes sleeps on the throw rug on either side of the bed but mostly ends up in her own bed and is a very quiet sleeper.
You could train your doodle to only get on the bed with permission. This could be done during the day so you don't have to do training at bedtime. That way if you want some snuggle time you can let him on the bed but otherwise he would sleep on his own bed on the floor in the bedroom.
We have Quincy in our room but not in our bed. Our bedroom is upstairs and she will climb the stairs and peek her head thru the rails as if to say come on up I'm tired. We usually go up to bed around 11 but if we watch a movie or show later she gets anxious for bed. Our nighttime routine is she goes out for one last potty, and I hide a biscuit or treat in her bed either earlier in the day or while my hubby walks her about for the last break, then she bounds up the stairs on the hunt for that treat and then settles in. She is 5 months old so she started in crate now has her own pet bed filled with all kinds of plushies. She does roam the room at night looking for a cool place and then will just drop herself on to the floor- very loudly I might add, sounds painful- that sometimes wakes me but like clockwork she is up 6:15 each morn.
Had to laugh at the drop on the floor. Our doodle does it as well on the bathroom tiles. Sounds painful.
Monty used to be up like a clockwork at 6am. We could hear him making noise in his crate downstairs. Fortunately, ever since he's been sleeping with us upstairs (and just being older as well), he sleeps with me until 8:30, which is a bliss since I'm not a morning person.
Peri is allowed on our bed while we are reading and in the mornings only. She knows when the lights go out, it's time to go to her bed, which is at the foot of our bed on the floor. You really can train the command "go to your bed".
yes we use the cue " sleepy time " and she goes and plops down- these doods are soooo smart-
Bentley our LD sleeps in our bedroom on the floor, Porsche our GD sleeps downstairs in the livingroom with Ishi our Collie. Our little Yorkies sleep in our bed, on my wife's side and at our feet. We have a king size bed and yorkies are real little so no problem.
Ishi has become too old to negotiate the stairs, so she no longer comes up to our room and we crated Porsche at first in the livingroom next to where Ishi slept. So now Porsche and Ishi sleep together on seperate dog pillows. I'm not sure what Porsche is going to do when Ishi passes on. I kind of worries me, they seem to be such good friends.
Bentley jumped up on the bed a few times but I always tell him "off", he's just way too big to start that.
I have to be in to work at 5:00am and have an hour drive in so I get up at 3:00am. That gives me time to eat breakfast feed the dogs, let them out and play with them for a bit before I leave. When I leave and say "Goodbye" they all return to thier beds until my wife gets up.
