I thought it would be fun to describe our dogs' experiences of 4th of July.
Sidiqi had an incredible day. We invited some family and friends over for a pool party. Sidiqi loves guests - LOOOOOOOVES guests - so he was out of his mind with joy as more and more people came over. He didn't know who to wiggle and squirm against first. We ended up with about 20 people in our back yard, including three small children. The smallest, a three-year-old girl, kept wanting to play with Sidiqi's ball-on-a-rope, and she was getting very annoyed that every time she grabbed it, Sidiqi grabbed the rope and pulled for all he was worth. She kept trying to get it away from him, saying, "See-dee-kee, it's my turn! Stop it! Give it to me!" Meanwhile, Sidiqi just loved having someone to play tug with him.
The six-year-old boy found a big squirt gun and thought it would be fun to squirt Sidiqi with it. Sidiqi thought it was awesome that his new friend was giving him water. Every time he got squirted, Sidiqi tried to catch the water in his mouth.
The nine-year-old girl discovered that Sidiqi enjoys playing hide-and-seek, so she had him running all over the house and yard. She also had him chasing balls in the water, and for a while there, the two of them were racing in the pool to get to the balls.
Sidiqi didn't sleep all day, and only sat still for two five-minute breaks when I forced him to take a breather in my lap. Our last guests left at about 9 p.m. He was going, going, going all day. He didn't want to be separated from the action for a second. I expect that he'll spend a lot of time sleeping today, dreaming happy dreams of all the fun he had.
