Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

You know you're a crazy doodle owner when in the morning on the way to work at 7:30-ish you spot a couple walking their dogs and you hope that one of them is a doodle (just for the heck of it!).

You know you're a crazy doodle owner when after you actually see both dogs you are SURE one of them IS a doodle just because it's curly (but it had a long fan tail so what else could it have been?)

You know you're a crazy doodle owner when after you decide it WAS a doodle you contemplate turning around to find out.

And then...you make a U-turn and roll down your windows as you approach.

And then...the story goes like this:

Me: Hi!

Man (whose wife is ahead with their other dog) turns around and looks quizzically at me.

Me: What kind of dog is that?

Man: "It's a goldendoo..."

Me (probably interrupting him, most certainly disturbing him): I have two labradoodles! Oh and I have a website. For Doodle Owners. It's called Doodle Kisses dot com. Not that many people on there from Walla Walla. But lots from all over the nation. You should stop by.

Man: "He's 7 months old."

Me: He's beautiful! *smile* Well thank you. Don't forget to stop by DoodleKisses.com!

Then I realize I'm driving down a VERY narrow alley way and get really self-conscious. As I pass his wife, the sun is in my eyes and I can't see her very well and sheepishly peep out a little "Hi" to her as I go on my merry way.

Of course now I'm mortified. DH* thoroughly enjoyed rolling his eyes at my story when I got home. The worst part is this is not the first time I've done this. Way before Doodle Kisses, on my way to work I spotted a doodle being walked by a couple. Slowed down my car (it was a red light so I could) and shouted out the passenger window: IS THAT A GOLDEN--- (leaving the -doodle part off just in case I was wrong). Sure enough it was a goldendoodle they confirmed. SO then I proceeded to shout back "Cool! I have two labradoodles, we should get together!!!!"--completely serious about my proposal to the couple. And then consequently completely embarrassed.

You never hear people with boxers run into each other and practically invite each other on dates just because they happen to own the same breed! OMG...YOU have a boxer too??? No Way! Me too! We MUST get together, this is amazing!

So anyone else want to add on to this?

You KNOW You're a Crazy Doodle Owner WHEN...

*For those new to internet/doodle forums "DH" stands for "Dear Husband" (or other less nice things depending upon how dear your husband was most recently). "DW" stands for Dear Wife. "DS" = dear son...etc..

You KNOW You're a Crazy Doodle Owner WHEN...
Your kids say the dogs eat better than they do.
When you specifically walk your Doodle where people can meet and admire her. This actually pays dividends. I walk my six month old Goldendoodle, Holly, at an event called "Cruisin' Grand" in Escondido, CA. This is an every spring through fall, Friday night, event in Escondido, CA, where there are hundreds of old cars, bands and crowds of people. Our six month old puppy takes this all in like a trooper. I am sure that she thinks everyone is out there just to meet and pet her. She was shy at first, but now loud noises and crowds don't bother her a bit.
I thought I was completely sane when I hosted a doodle romp at our house last month, inviting several doodles I'd met throught Dogster anywhere in the surrounding 2 states. And I'm still convinced I was. We had about 10 doodles and their doodley families, wonderful food for dogs and peeps, frisbees and balls flying everywhere, and a great time was had by all. So much so that we decided we can't wait a whole year before the 2nd annual, but must reprise our antics in the fall. So much so that within 2 weeks, I had a new doodle pup to add to our family. My fatal mistake was discussing it at work the next day. My co-workers thought I was nuts. One who has a choc. lab responded with, I love my dog but you don't see me having a party for all the local choc. labs. Hmmm-it's a doodle thing. So to undoodle people, our sympathies, and to our doodle friends-LET"S PAWTY!
You know you're a crazy doodle owner when..........you reconnect with and old friend and she sends tons of cute pictures of her kids, but all you find of recent pictures on your computer are of your new doodle puppy:p
Oh criminy....I do all of the listed above!
Kim says, "You know your a crazy doodle owner when you pull the public transportation bus over and yell out the window, it's a doodle!"
Yes, he drives a bus for Metro, King Co. and yes, he's done exactly this!
LOL--I love it!
YOU know you're a crazy doodle owner when...YOU join this site after you were the receiver of the harassment I described above!
When you invite the same people that have 2 doodle to spend 4 days with you and watch their 2 doodles along with your own 2 doodles all the same age: 2yrs old! while the couple goes to Canada for teh weekend hahahaaaaaaaa

when you think you're wearing out 4 doodles and fall asleep on the couch BEFORE they do!

when you talk all about your doodles and take more pics of them than your own family ; )
Adina, don't feel bad...I was on a walk in our neighborhood with Reese one day and a suburban was pulling into the intersection near us. All of a sudden it slams on its brakes and the woman driving rolls down the window. Cars behind her (and those waiting to turn) began to honk. She was blocking the intersection! She sped away...Crazy? No. A few days later we were walking and saw the same suburban. This time they pulled up safely next to us and ask,"Is that a Doodle?!" They had two and were very excited to see Reese!
You know you're a crazy doodle owner when:

Your family tells you that they've never seen anyone take so many pictures of their dog and put them on his own 'personal website'. (Haha). And then it's not only your family commenting, it's also their extended friends!

AND

You have a DVD slide-show of your dood doing all the crazy things he/she does and you make your friends/family watch it when they come over to visit! (Which I also have) lol.

The other day my sister said to me, "I've never seen someone take sooooo many pictures of one dog! I have kids and I don't even take that many pictures of them!"
yes, my DBF met a doodle at a house he was working at yesterday and brought home the ladies card so we could get the "girls" together and play. btw, I always thought the d in dh stood for "doodle" not dear ! lol
