Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi everyone,

It's my first post on DoodleKisses! I've been reading for about a week, and I've realized that so many of your doodles do the SAME things as ours, and that we have a lot of the same challenges.

I saw a few posts about booties, and if they would help keep those nasty clingy snowballs out of the fur and between the paws. Our doodle Sunny is 1 year old and he LOVES the snow, but then he melts all over the house when we get back in. There is no way to easily get the snowballs out. I can't comb them out, and it seems like such a hassle to put him in the tub and spray him down to melt off the snow, because it gets stuck all over his paws, legs, and belly. Or worse, depending how much snow-diving he does. Plus, we have 35 cm of snow right now...and every time he goes outside to pee, he's diving in to get covered in snow...so we'd be spraying him down several times a day.

For those that tried the booties, did they work or help? I'm open to any suggestions too!

Thanks! Looking forward to posting with you all :)

That's funny because I am on here now looking for answers to this problem, we have 2 golden doodles that LOVE love love the snow, this is the first winter for both of them and there fav thing to do is frolic in the snow! but then we have to carry them(and they're 25lbs and 65lbs!) from the door in to the tub and spray them off with the warm water and then dry them all and so on...we also have three kids, 6yr, 26 months and 15 months...so we don't really have a lot of time to do this 4, 5 or 6 times a day!!!! help us someone please!!!!!!!!!! I think i've decided to design a full snowsuit for them, something they could step into and zip up the back, full coverage!
OMG! I love the snowsuit idea. Even more, I think Sunny would love the attention he would get when wearing it! :) I thought about getting him a raincoat, which would help keep the snow out of the fur on most of his body...but the legs/paws are the real issue.
There was a recent discussion on this... I can't remember the title of the discussion... But it should only be a few pages back in the main forum.
Here are the links to the recent discussions already posted on booties and snowballs...

I will be the first on your list to puchase it!!!
Jane, where can you get the Muttluks? We have bought the doggie booties here and they fall off the dogs feet easily. My Bijon is the only one who can keep them on. The doodles loose them in a minute. Do you have a source? Happy Thanksgiving!
Hi,
Muttluks.com = 52.00
handsnpaws.com = 38.00
just placed my order with handsnpaws
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Thanks for the tip! That's a great deal. I'm definitely going to order some. As for handsnpaws.com, I'm killing myself laughing at all the awesome doggy clothing. My dog is not a tiny dog (75 lbs), but I honestly think he would LOVE doggy PJs. He loves strutting his stuff and getting attention. I can just imagine him rolling out of bed in the morning with his grampy PJs.
I saw those. My husband would be finding my a rubber room... Samantha gives a bbbiiiggg puppy stretch in the am> What a picture that would have made.
please let me know how these work...I just bought some "boots" and they were not good at all...still in the backyard actually!!
We bought boots for Cali and they worked really well in keeping her paws dry. The problem was making sure they stayed on her. We lost one somewhere and now we have 3 boots. So we have looked at the mutlucks but have not purchased them yet. Her feet are like sponges so we definitely want to do something before we get much more snow. I think the boots are a great idea, especially once they start laying more salt.
We bought Bella, our Mastiff, booties to keep her feet from burning on hot cement and blacktop. They also work well in snow.

We have the type that you slide them on and then use a velcro strap around her ankle to hold them on. Bella thinks she is the most beautiful girl, in the world when she is wearing her booties. She like them so much that we bought her pink tennis shoes.

We have not tried shoes or booties on Celaeach Doodle yet. I am sure that, if Bella has them, Cealeach will love them too. She knows that she gets lots of attention when she wears her bows and barrettes, so shoes will just enhance her "girly-girl" image! LOLOL
