Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
So after a fantastic day at the dog park with Shelby and Knox and after picking out about a bajillion burs from his fur and bathing him in a gallon of shampoo, Ollie was completely wiped out. After his bath and us napping, I noticed his paw pad had a flap of skin on it. It didn't bleed at all, and he was so tired that I didn't think it really even bothered him. Today is a different story. The dog is pitiful. He doesn't want to stand let alone walk. The flap of skin came off (he either chewed it or it fell off) and he looks at me like it's the worst thing in the whole world. I have to bring him his bowl of food and water and practically drag him down three, yes three, flights of stairs to go potty. I have put neosporine on it and right now I have a sock on him so he won't lick of the ointment. I plan to wait and see if he is still this sad tomorrow and if so I'll take him in. Is there anything I can give him for the pain? Is there anything I should look out for? It doesn't look too bad...it looks kind of like a popped blister. He is either a wimp or in a ton of pain. And those boots are now on my shopping list.

That's what we like to hear!!! :) Thanks for the update!!!
Yay... glad he is feeling better. While I've not had this experience... I know it happened quite a bit to Shelby's friend Malu and he was usually doing much better 48-72 hours later! :)
Ya, it looks like his owie wasn't too severe! I'm glad it's a quick heal! I want him to be ready for the weekend!
Poor baby I hope he is doing better, he looks very very sad :-( Wilson sends hugs his way, and before long is up and out playing again !
Thanks Sue! He seems a TON better tonight! He is a lot more bouncy and goofy!
I was going to ask you what size you bought! Thanks Sandy! I think I might get a pair for trail stuff, hot stuff, and maybe when he is at the park. I like that they have vibram outsoles! Reminds me of my Vibram Five Fingers (toe shoes). I love that Ollie and Hattie are related :)
I think Ollie surpassed Hattie in size lol ...my mini is already 45 pounds
How funny, I think Ollie was projected to be around 30 pounds! Oh well! I like him just how he is. I don't really even realize his size until someone says something about him. I should measure his height....where do I measure from?
Well... he is afraid of the tape measure...but I'm guessing around 20-21 inches.
My "Standard" labradoodle only got to be 42lbs. She was supposed to be close to 60! I guess you never can tell, even with multigeneration labradoodles, which are supposed to be more predictable. I hope Ollie's paw is feeling better!!
I guess not! I really only cared because I live in apartment, but he is still an okay size for that...now if he doubles it, I'm in trouble (but I'm pretty sure he is about the size he will be). Ya Ollie is an F1B, so I thought he might be a bit more predictable. He is completely back to normal today, which I am really happy about!
I just logged on to ask about paw pads and saw your post! Milo was limping at the dog park today and it wasn't until I got home and looked closer that I realized one of his paw pads was torn off. He ran alot yesterday (in grass) and today on bark/mulch so I'm surprised he got injured. What was the surface Ollie ran on today? On Christmas eve, I spent 2 hours at a tennis court with him (stupid me) as it was dusk and I never noticed that his foot was bleeding!! We walked in the house, turned the lights on and he was an awful mess. I felt horrible but did alot of reading that night and everything said to let air get to it (and he didn't lick it very much). He didn't get up on Christmas day (which was actually kinda nice with all the excitement) but it did heal within a few days. I haven't had him back to the tennis court but I didn't think grass and bark/mulch would hurt him today. I haven't put a sock on him as he's not licking it (he's too tired!) I hope Ollie heals soon.
