Last night as I drive up my street I notice a man and his dog walking past our house, I smile and wave because I have seen this dog since he was 3 months old walking with his owner and now he is like 90 lbs! I get closer to my house and hear Zoe barking. The front door is open with only the screen door closed because my DH is cooking and I always tell him to open the doors and windows when cooking.I open the garage door, park, and as I am gathering up my stuff I see a neighbor (4 houses down) walking up to me.
He asks, "Is that your dog barking?'
I say "yes"
He says "ANNOYING!"
I give him a frown, and then he walks away.
First of all, she only barks when she see's people pass by our house. We do not have THAT many people pass by because we are not a big street and we live on top of a hill. Second of all, it was probably a mere 2 minutes of barking if not less because she stops once they are gone. I think she kept barking because she saw my car though...so 1 minute person passing, 1 minute my car. Third of all...ALL the dogs in my neighborhood bark...they're DOGS!
I thought it was SO rude of him! I was so mad and am still annoyed that a neighbor would be so impatient and rude. DH said for it not to bother me but I can't help it.
**UPDATE*** so the guy came over and complained again. Zoe was only barking for a minute because there was something outside. Of course she will bark more when he comes and rings the doorbell. He comes every chance he gets...sorry my dog bothered you twice in your lifetime! DH told me they have a baby so the guy is just taking out his frustrations out on us. It really upsets me the way he complains and not necessarily that he is complaining. I get that barking dogs are annoying but he's so rude and nasty about it. I even saw his wife walking with the baby one time and stood right in front of our house pretending to look at something. Of course Zoe barked and i actually went to the front door, picked her up, and brought her to the kitchen. The weird part was...that lady looked back and looked like she was wondering why my dog stopped. I think she was provoking my dog on purpose. We are going to cover the fence doors to our yard this weekend so she cant see out. I read an article that says to take your dogs and introduce yourself to your neighbor and try to talk about it but it kills me to think of being that civil because he's so mean! Sighhhh....

HOW RUDE!!! I don't think it is a problem when Bodi barks because someone is walking their dog in front of our house, or there is a stray cat. There are dogs in the neighborhood LEFT OUTSIDE for long periods and they bark for hours. That's a problem. Doesn't his 90 lb dog bark???? I'm annoyed for you!
Oh that guy that was walking the dog wasn't the neighbor that came to complain. and yes there are so many dogs just left outside!!! Zoe is always supervised.
I've come to the conclusion that there are some people who just don't like dogs. That's so difficult for me to understand, but I'm sure it's the case. We have a few neighbors who have made it a hobby to complain about the dogs in the neighborhood. We are in a condo community, so they actually write formal written letters to our Board of Directors. They complain about EVERYTHING. Our next door neighbor actually sent in a written complaint because DH had Murph out in our back yard for a potty break and the neighbor happened to see Murph go potty. Of course DH had a bag and immediately picked it up, but he said it made him ill and he couldn't enjoy his dinner. LOL It used to really annoy me, but I've decided they are not worth any of my energy, so now I just ignore them.
I guess I should learn to ignore them too. SIghhh...i just don't get it.
What was your DH supposed to do...put a cork in it, until the guy was done eating....LOL!!! Couldn't he look away:) What did the Board of Directors do in this situation?
No kidding Laurie. How absurd is this....and also not very bright. My DH was ON the Board of Directors at the time....they all had a real good laugh at that meeting.
That's what would have happened at our meeting too.
OHD Jane, that my friend is ridiculous. We also live in a condo community. Thankfully everyone around me either loves Daisy or just plain doesn't care. We have a leash law here but we also have the biggest back area and we always play chuck-it back there. Nobody complains, I keep my fingers crossed. Seriously what a jerk, where would he like to have them go potty?!?!?
It could also be my sweet disposition - NOT! I am a board member, they probably just don't complain because of that.
OMD! This guy must really have a weak stomach!
OMD, Jane, I hate to think what your neighbor does when HE gets ill and vomits or worse yet..... diarrhea. I wonder if he makes himself ill?
LOL!
Rude is right.... I have come to appreciate the fact that my Shelby barks when people walk by or approach the house!
