Once I read your post I spent  an extra long time brushing and combing Riley this evening.  I do not want to bring him to a groomer and go to collect him to find goodness know what. If I do bring him to a groomer they will have to put up with me being there to watch what they are doing  lol : ))  We don't have hot Summers here (that would be a miracle) and it's not like he is going to swimming all that much either so shave downs are unnecessary.  Can you bear to post a picture of Nelson post groom?

That's why I groomed Hurley too..I was afraid they would shave him way to close...sometimes I feel like some groomers get a little too excited with the clippers...

Nelson's hair will grow back..but I know you are upset...i am hoping it grows back super fast!!!

I'm so sorry this happened and I have really been struggling with the thought of getting Sophie groomed. I do take her to get her eyes cut out and they tell me they do a 2 inch cut on dogs like her. I have also heard of a Teddie Bear. Cut but I have never seen one. I think now when I do I tell them if there are mats to let them alone and I will get them out. I do brush her at least. 2 times a week and have found some mats and they are hard to get out.

Daisy was shaved down once, never again....we keep her super duper brushed now, nary a mat, which is why they shaved her down, she had matts on her hips and we did not realize. They did not cut her tail hair though.

Bella (Daisy's sister) got her face and head shaved, it is growing back nicely, her owner, my friend, now brushes her constantly...she did look funny because her body was still long.

It will grow back, all of it.

I'm sorry about your poor bald doodle.  I can't blame you for being upset.  I remember when I first took Bexter to the groomer, I told them, "If you shave him, I will be crying when I pick him up."  I told them NO MATTER WHAT - not to shave him.  I told them to call me & I would pick him up.  I remember brushing & combing Bexter 4 hours before that first appointment to try to get as many mats out as I could because I was so worried about it.  They did charge an extra fee for dematting, but WELL WORTH IT.  This last time I had him groomed, I didn't even have to pay the dematting fee since I know what I'm doing better now.  I'm assuming they shaved him because of matts?  I would probably find another groomer.  He'll look really cute before you know it!  Luckily (or not) they grow fast!

I shave all the time.  The tail grows back, the hair grows back, the dog is so ticklish.  It is strange but if it is a must, it is a must, for the dog's good healthy skin.

Sorry, I realize you are shocked. Your dog is probably relieved.   Put the brush away for a while and get out a glass of wine  :)

I will post a picture as soon as I get up the courage to take one.  His tail is shaved half way - yes like a poodle.  I have no idea why they did this. He had very few mats -maybe a couple around the shoulders but I brushed him for a long time yesterday to get him ready.  So, here's the weird part. Rufus was supposed to get a haircut too but when we arrived, she said she wouldn't have time to do both of them because she had to leave early.

Nelson once again has a role in the High School Musical, This year, "Legally Blonde".  He is playing the role of the dog from the trailer park. I decided to have him cleaned up a bit from his Spring mud romps, so I Ieft him and took Rufus home with me.

They had rehearsal tonight, so I brought them both over in case Nelson no longer fit the part. They are now using Rufus as the pre-adoption dog and Nelson as the post adoption (living with a hair dresser) dog.  :)   The wine is a good idea.

And you are all correct, it's hair, it will grow back.  Time to find a new groomer though. I am calling in the am to cancel Rufus' rescheduled appointment.

I really like the way your groomer cuts.

This is waht I HOPED he would look like when  picked him up (only blonde).

Why did they shave him?? Did he have mats!! OMG I am sure he is still handsome!! It will grow!!!

Bummer! A lot of us had to go through this. Myla's cut is this weekend, we are VERY SPECIFIC on what NOT to touch:)

It WILL grow back!

This makes me so mad. I hope you walked out of there without paying. Easier said than done, but I did it once with Winston at the vet and it worked. If you paid them, I would go back and demand a refund and/or write them a nasty complaint. I hate when businesses take your money and then not give what you want. I hate the fact that groomers are so quick to take out the clippers when all they need is a bit of elbow greese to get out a few mats. My groomer is like this too, and the only reason I keep going back is because it is so close to home and there really isn't a lot of options around here. Everytime I bring in a doodle she immediately comments: "they're very matted", whithout even feeling them or running a brush through. It's not true! Winston almost never gets matts and is so easy to brush. Drives me nuts!
