Here is info that I received today from my dogs breeder. Please keep up to date on this recall.
Unfortunately, another widespread pet food recall has been announced. At this time, it is a voluntary recall including 14 different pet food brands sold in more than 40 states due to possible salmonella contamination. The pet food brands involved in this recall are listed below:
- 4Health
- Apex
- Canidae
- Chicken Soup For the Pet Lover's Soul
- Country Value
- Diamond
- Diamond Naturals
- Kaytee Fort-Diets
- Kirkland
- Natural Balance
- Premium Edge
- Professional
- Taste Of The Wild
- Wellness
In addition, according to The Center for Disease Control, 14 people in nine states have been infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella Infantis. The CDC reported that multiple brands of dry pet food produced by Diamond Pet Foods at a single manufacturing facility have been linked to some of these infections.
We want to reassure you that this recall does not affect any of our Life’s Abundance products that we endorse. Life's Abundance employ numerous safety and quality controls to ensure the highest quality of there products.

What a dummy I am! - I did not even notice the last line was endorsing the food this breeder pushes. Sorry guys!- I just wanted to get out the recall info quickly. I did not know it was already posted. I wonder if Life Abundance sent her the recall info? It never occured to me there may be an ulterior motive.
Any one can be taken in by this sort of thing : )
I don't think you are a dummy and your breeder might very well believe that it's the best food based on the marketing materials from the company (they make a strong case with limited information provided). Nutrition is complicated, business ownership is complicated and people like to use scare tactics when they don't know any different. Luckily Karen is all over this food business since it takes a lot of research and nutrition knowledge to compare food labels.
Cathy, you are not a dummy. It was an innocent oversight on your part. You were just trying to let people know about the recall.
Here's the info on the Wellness recall. It only affects the Super5Mix Large Breed Puppy food. Of course, that is the one I use. Thankfully, the dates on the bag I have do not match the recall.

Hope everyone's pups are ok!
Well I'll be darned! I bought TOTW on April 30, it was not on the recall list at that time. I knew that Diamond Pet Foods had Chicken Soup on recall so when I dumped the new bag into the plastic tub at home, I clipped the Production Code off the bag and tossed it into the tub too in case other brands or other issues came up.
Today I finally checked, OMD! Yep, I have one of the suspected bags. I purchased from a Petvalue store. I have my receipt and the UPC. I gave them a call and they offered me a full refund, without the bag!
The guy at the pet store said everyone is going crazy and they aren't being very nice to the store people. In all that I have read, I have not seen that any dogs have gotten sick??? Just people, right? And in that light, salmonella I think that most dogs wouldn't have problems with that?
Thanks for sharing the information! I was just at the store where I buy Natural Balance Synery and had a discussion with the lady working there about it. I thanked her for having the sign where the empty shelves were. They had pulled all the dog food recalled and told the brands/foods affected. The sign said that the recalls from Natural Balance were voluntary. If that is the case, I am proud of them! I'm glad Synergy was not one of the affected lines! She also said that her manager went to visit where Natural Balance makes their food and that it was the cleanest he has ever seen. I am proud to be a buyer! I will stick with that!
