I don't think NJ received any of the products from the Gaston plant, it's not one of the states on the Diamond recall list, but here's a link to Wellness's hotline for recall info, maybe you could contact them: http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-recall/wellness-dog-food-rec...

I'm not sure what to do about this whole recall thing.  My puppy 4.5 months has been doing very well on TOTW High Prarie, with Wetlands mixed in for variety.  My current bags of food are not included in the dates that are recalled, but I don't have a lot left.  The stores around me took TOTW and other diamond foods out of their stores.  I don't think I need to switch her food because I feel like TOTW is a great food, she loves it, and I can afford it.  Where can I buy a bag of TOTW.... is it a bad idea to still buy it?  Do you think I should consider switching?  If so, what kind of food is close to TOTW that I can switch to quickly.  Thank you!

Trudy, it's hard to answer this question here in the recall section. You can start a discussion in our Food Group discussion forum if you'd like.

Trudy, my dogs eat TOTW and I do NOT intend to change brands.  We are in California which is one of the states not affected.  Can you order it from a supplier who uses the California facility to ship from? Another suggestion is to call the company and ask them for the nearest supplier in your area or even see if you can order from the company.

Halas eats Orijen, and so does Barley, but Mom will get TOTW for Barley if she runs out of Orijen.  She has a bag of TOTW right now that I told her to just throw away.  The codes don't match the codes in the recall, but better safe than sorry.  It seems like whenever they have one of these recalls, the list of foods and the time frame concerned just grows and grows.  Today her batch isn't on the list, but tomorrow it might be.  It is so irritating that the food companies seem to do the least amount they can.  I know these are voluntary recalls, so that's good. But it just takes so long to get anything really going regarding recalls.  The plant temporarily shut down in early April (I guess because of the contamination), and they're still adding to the list of foods?  It's been a month.  I hope everyone that has a food on the list can find a good alternative.  I know some of our doodles have really sensitive tummies, and finding an alternative is no easy task.

Last night, petfooddirect.com sent an e-mail clarifying that the voluntary recall for Wellness is limited to just the Large Breed Puppy formula. Here are the details and a link to the media release:

Earlier today we sent you an email regarding the recent pet food recall. As we continue to keep you updated, we wanted to clarify the recall related to one of those brands, Wellness.

The Wellness recall is limited to one recipe: Wellness Complete Health Super 5 Mix Large Breed Puppy, 15# and 30# bags. The recall is limited to bags with Best By dates of January 9-11, 2013.

No other Wellness recipes are impacted by this voluntary recall.

All Wellness dry dog and dry cat food products are tested for Salmonella and all lots tested negative prior to shipping to customers. The company is voluntarily recalling this select recipe out of an abundance of caution as these products were produced at the facility that has been linked to recent recalls of Diamond brand foods due to the threat of Salmonella.

For more information, please see the press release on the Wellness website: http://www.wellnesspetfood.com/news.aspx

I was SO thankful when I got this email from Wellness. While it scared me that my choice for food was the only Wellness recipe under recall, I was relieved and happy to see the Best By dates on my bag were for February. I don't think this will make me change foods. Wellness no longer works with Diamond Pet Foods and has its own facility.

Hope everyone else hasn't had any issues with their pooches.

Thanks for posting this, I'm sure it makes a lot of people feel better.

Add another one to the list ~

"Pet Food Safety Recall: Sold Gold Health Products for Pets, Inc. (El Cajon, CA) recalls Solid Gold WolfCub Large Breed Puppy Food (4-lb, 15-lb and 33-lb packs; Best before December 30, 2012; Batch code starting SGB1201) and Solid Gold WolfKing Large Breed Adult Dog Food (4-lb, 15-lb and 28.5-lb packs; Best before December 30, 2012; Batch code starting SGL1201), after being notified by Diamond Pet Foods regarding the presence of Salmonella in Diamond’s Gaston, South Carolina facility. The recalled products were distributed in the United States and Canada from between January and May 2012."

I'm beginning to think most food is manufactured in one plant! I thought many of these foods were made by discrete entities. In the era of mergers and acquisitions a while back, my son said, Soon there will be only one company." He may have been right.

is there any brand besides orijen and acana that isnt made in this facility? that is insane!

Lots of them. Fromm for one, I'd have to run through the list to name all the others.
