I'm sorry, I can't for the life of me remember who it was that was using "Trazadone".

If you see this, how is your dog doing now with his hyper-vigilance?

Hi Patti!  Murphy has been on the Trazadone for 3 weeks now.  I don't think he has enough in his system yet to see real results in his anxiety on a regular basis.  BUT...the way we dose is 1/2 tablet every 12 hours and then one whole tablet at first sign of storm.   I have noticed a huge improvement if i can get the extra dose in him before he has a chance to get stressed about the storm.  We have also had 2 storms now where he has been able to hear several thunder claps before going to the laundry room or starting to tremble or pant.    I am already seeing an improvement in his recovery time as well.   The amount of time he spends trembling and panting before he is able to relax is far less than it was a month ago.  I am hopeful.

The only negative I have seen is the drowsiness in the beginning that went away in a few days and if it is really storming and we have to give him the extra dose it dose make him very sleepy and he doesn't usually eat for a couple of a meals.  This really isn't an issue since if he is sleeping he is probably relaxed and it wouldn't hurt him to lose a couple of pounds.

we had a really bad stormy night last night and expecting the same for the next couple of days.  I am keeping a journal and will share again in a week or so.

Is Willow going to try Trazadone?

Ronna, that is better news :)

I don't know. Just trying to get info on options.  We won't try something new for about two weeks.

Thank you so much for getting back to me.

Ronna - That's great news!  i haven't been on much - been so crazy busy!  But I have thought of you and Murphy often!  So glad he is doing better!  I will check in again!  Sending you my best!
