Who Are You?

Since I have been a member on DK, I have learned so much useful information and a lot about members’ dogs.  I know about the illnesses that afflict some DK doodles.  I know which dogs are picky eaters and which ones have poop issues or behavior problems.  But it dawned on me, that with a few exceptions, I don’t really know much about the humans of DK.    Many of us recently stepped out of our comfort zones to post pictures of ourselves on our profiles, but there is no lasting record of that.  I know that DK members are compassionate people that are truly invested in the lives of their doodles, but what makes you tic?  Who are you when you have to step away from DK and enter the real world (the horror!!)?  So I challenge you to give us a little info about the person behind the dog. 

 

I’ll go first.

 

Name: Amy

Location: Dyer, IN (35 minutes outside of Chicago)

Birth Order: Oldest of 3 kids – the only girl

Family: Husband, no kids

Education: Purdue and DePaul

Occupation: CPA – I work as a tax analyst for a Steel Mill.  I hope to work as a Business Officer for a Public School in the near future; I want to feel like my job actually matters.

Biggest Fear:  I have a phobia of grasshoppers.  Yes, I know they don’t bite or anything but they just really freak me out.  They blend into their surroundings and when you least expect it they jump/fly around…yuck

General: super organized, sometimes impatient, a planner – not a spur of the moment type of person, shy – I much prefer to sit back and take it all in rather than be the center of attention, obsessed with details, cautious (I was going to list the craziest thing I had ever done, but then I couldn’t come up with anything so I had to leave it out!), and incredibly sarcastic – but I swear, I am NOT as boring as I sound!!

If I could have any pet (that isn’t a doodle), I would love to have:  A big fat penguin – one of those cute cartoony looking ones. 

Addiction: A new yogurt place recently opened here (called Red Mango).  You go in and fill up a cup with as much or as little yogurt/soft serve ice cream as you want and then you can top it with all kinds of great toppings (candy, cookies, fruit, choc syrup, etc).  I have become an addict, especially now that it has gotten warm outside.  I go there at least once a week, and I’m sure it will get worse before it gets better.

Guilty Pleasure TV Show: Sister Wives -- I have no idea how I got started watching it, but now I am hooked.

Name: Pam

Location: Champlin, MN...Once Mentioned in Rolling Stone Magazine for Giving out the most traffic tickets!

Lived in MN all my life...yes, I hate the cold snowy winters...I cant see myself ever movign away from my family though.

Generation: I hate getting older...But the alternative is worse

Birth Order: Youngest of 3 Girls, I also have a 1/2 brother 17 years younger then me

Family: Husband- Been Married 26 years, 2 Daughters (24 & 21) who left us with an almost empty nest fall of 2010, Trixie Doodle & the Kids Lovebird...She shreds paper of any kind- So I have to be very careful about where I leave books, papers, etc.

Education: HS Graduate

Occupation: Home maker. I had my Own Doll Clothes Sewing Business...I lost all my Customers when I got breast cancer. Now I make Leather Masks (Inspired by New Orleans-where I went for 3 surgeries- I Love NOLA!) I also make a few other Odd things that I sell.

Biggest Fear: That something bad will happen to a loved one. My Mom died of cancer 21 years ago. My sister died 16 years ago of a Drug overdose. My Angel Dog died of cancer at 4.

General: I am a 4 year breast cancer Warrior, Fists up! I had 8 surgeries in 2.5 years...I am left in pain from all of them. This year I set out to Get in shape. I eat right & work out everyday- despite the pain. Its the 1st time I have felt good about myself in 4 years (Like I have a Purpose- to take care of Me.) I love Music, it can really help lift ones Mood. I am not organized...I have a goal to clean up the house of Stuff. It will take years. I love sitting outdoors & just listen to all the sounds. (ReLax- its so good for you). I love spending time with Trixie-She makes Me Smile.

If I could have any pet (that isn’t a doodle), I would love to have: A Dog, I like Big dogs...I have only had a few years in my life when I didn't have a dog.

Addiction: Sugar free Generic Redbull-One for Breakfast & One for my afternoon Break. It tastes Great with String Cheese!  Pinterest-Instead of Collectiong Cookbooks now- I can just Pin Recipes...And Pin & Pin...

Random Useless Fact About Me: I like #s. I am obsessed with them...Ask my Family....this could go in the addiction category too ;o

Wow, Pam! Keep fighting!! Love your spirit and would love to see a photo of the leather masks you make. I currently have a friend fighting lymphoma who is very artistic herself and she keeps coming up with these amazing warrior-like masks and costumes.

Birth Order: Youngest to 1 older brother

Family: Single Mom to two doodles and a kitty

Occupation: Public Servant for the Canadian Federal Government. I stay for the salary, benefits and pension, for which I am greatful, but every day I fantasize about doing something else.

Biggest Fear:  Public Speaking, Heights, Spiders.

General: not very organized or good at planning, procrastinator, thrive under pressure, more introverted than extroverted, love the outdoors, hate being the centre of attention, can't see the trees for the forest - definitely a big picture thinker,  a bit of a risk taker, love travel and adventure, fiercely independent, have more aspirations than I can follow through on, dream of being an artist of some sort but not very good at anything artsy.
