Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I have been thinking about getting Evie groomed, she is only just 5 months. I trimmed a little around her eyes and her feet about 5 weeks back. But thought i had a bit more time to decide where to go.
well Evie's eyes were a bit yucky in the morning for a few days, i had tried bathing them like i had read on the forum but after a few days i was worried as they got quite red. i rang booked her into the vet.
We have been to the vet for her vaccinations so far and that was all, so i guess i am not that experienced.
Anyway there was these crazy rat like dog's that wouldnt stop barking at Evie when we got there, and ofcourse as a friendly big thing Evie she wouldnt settle and wanted to get closer. Thankfully we almost went straight into the examination room, but i think i was still a bit flustered.
vet said it is conjuctivutis, would put dye in to make sure it is anything worse and for us to use a prescribed cream for it . But she said we should trim some of the hair away from the eyes. She said she would call the vet nurse in who used to be a groomer, as she would do a better job. I didnt think anything of it.
Evie freaked a little at the shaver clipper noise but then settled. i was behind her so we wouldn't back off the table. I did realise how much they could clip in under 45seconds. Evie now loooks like a cross between a baboon and a shaved poodle.
I was in such a state of shock, but i vaguely remember the vet and the nurse / groomer they will have to keep her face well trimmed around her eyes so this doesnt happen again. Which i know is rubbish.
ohhh my poor little girl !
I cant belive we finally fixed the tear staining, now she has been trimmed so badly.
How long between bad haircut and it growing out ?

She is gorgeous--but does look a bit like Gandalf in Lord of the Rings now...LOL
lol, thanks, her hair had grown already, she is still my gorgeous girl.
I think it was just shock :)
She is just beautiful! I always think it's pretty amazing how fast their hair grows! Long hair or not, she's a cutie!
Its amazing how fast the stuff around thier eyes builds up. I think once the redness goes away she wont look as shocking. the shinny ointment doesnt help any but still just as cute as a button.
She is beautiful! I don't understand why she was shaved down her snout. Conjunctivitis is not caused by her hair being in her eyes. I am sure the hair would irritate the eye but it is either viral or bacterial. Hmmmm, am I missing something?
For both my girls, I comb their hair forward, grab between 2 fingers and anything past my fingers gets cut. I also trim anything between their eyes, little by little so I only cut what needs to be. With Charli, my black doodle, I always have something to trim in the corner of her eyes, those curls seem to grow the fastest. I use the blunt tipped, short scissor between her eyes.
Glad Evie is feeling better!!!
