Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi everyone. I rescued Winston about a year ago, and we were told he was either a goldendoodle or a labradoodle. Is it possible to tell what type of doodle he is by looking at his physical appearance? What type of doodle do you think he is? Is he even a doodle (some people think he is a wheaten terrier)?
Here's some information that may help:
1. He is ultra cream with apricot parti spots.
2. His fur is a mixture of straight, wavy, and curly.
3. He sheds a little.
4. He gets strong body odor within a week of being bathed.
5. He is 40 pounds, full grown.
6. He has a stocky, square appearance, with a flat and wide head.
7. He has dark brown eyes (with crazy long apricot lashes) and a rose colored nose.
8. He is a goof ball and loves to snuggle with cats.
After looking online at hundreds of pictures, I feel that he could either be an Australian Labradoodle or a English-type Goldendoodle, based on the stockiness of his body.
I've attached a few photos, which you can also find in my photo gallery in my profile. Thank you!

I really have no idea. However, when I opened and looked at the first picture Wheaton ws the first thing that I thought. I've decided I'll just call him an "adoradoodle" because he sure is adorable!
"Just call him a doodle and be done with it."
I agree with this, good advice. You never really know what's in there anyway unless you buy from a reputable breeder and have seen the parents. And even then half the time you don't know what's in the multigens.
Jack's original owner supposedly left his pet store papers with him. The rescue group wouldn't let me see them, but they claim that on paper, he is a labradoodle, the mother was a lab and the father was Standard Poodle. Well, who knows? The puppy mill can put anything they like on the papers, nobody is checking it. Most people think he is a Goldendoodle because of his coloring. I don't really care. He's adorable.
Winston might have some Cocker Spaniel in him.
If you're really curious, I'd do a DNA test.
I agree with the cockapoo possibility. The size of the cockapoo can vary a great deal, depending on the size of the poodle and other factors. As a crossbreed, of course, the characteristics of any individual puppy can be all over the board. The "flat, wide head" really suggests cocker spaniel to me.
Years ago, I owned a cockapoo who was almost as heavy as my ALD (Justice, the cockapoo, weighed about 30 to 35 pounds), but the cockapoo was a few inches shorter. Cosmo, the ALD, is a medium and weighs just over 40 pounds. BTW, the cockapoo had the cocker coat (no poodle curls!), but his tail curled up over his back. And he did shed. He was a gorgeous dog.
Cockapoos are wonderful dogs, too, even though their name doesn't say "doodle'!
Can you imagine if their name did have doodle in it? Would it be Cockadoodle? ;)
