Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi, I have a 11 week old goldendoodle pup.  I've been reading about puppy vaccinations and am a little confused.  Our breeder gave the pups the first set of shots at 7 weeks.  Based on 3-4 weeks in between shots, we have a titer or last vaccination scheduled when the pup is 14 weeks.  Since the usual vaccine timeline is 8, 12, 16 weeks, is it better for us to move out the titer/final set to 16 weeks opposed to 14?  Does this mean she is protected at 14 weeks???

Here's the break down:

1st set-DHPP given at the breeder at 7 weeks.

2nd set-DHPP given 3 weeks later at 10 weeks.

3rd- appt. in 3 weeks at 14 weeks old  we are going with a titer test to see if it's needed.

I just want to make sure my little girl has the best protection possible. Thanks for your help in advance!!!

Our vaccinations were 4 weeks apart and we kept our pup isolated from other dogs and public places until all shots were given, but it may be fine at 3 week intervals too. By the way Rosie sure is adorable!

Beckett's shots have been 3 weeks apart. He just got his 3rd at 14 weeks and the vet told us that he can go out 10 days after his third shot, to give the vaccine time to take effect. I also asked why Beckett doesn't have to wait until 16 weeks. He basically said 10 days after his 3rd shot, he will be 15.5 weeks and that is close enough. Just don't bring him to the dog park or any place where there are many dogs until he gets his rabies vaccine.

Our pup had his first set at 7wks by the breeder. We had his second set done at 11wks and the vet said we could wait until 16wks for the third set. So our's weren't spaced at regular intervals either. Like Stephanie mentioned, I would limit the pup's exposure until the third set of shots is given.

That is exactly what our vet said so we are going at 16 weeks.

Anne, Stephanie & Jennifer,

Thank you all for your replies.  It's good to have a little reassurance sometimes.  Based on your input, I think I'll keep her on the schedule we have.  We've been taking her to puppy socials  2X a week where they check everyone's vaccinations and she just started Puppy-K.  Its been great for her and helps me by draining some of her puppy energy, lol. I also take her when I'm running errands (carry her in my arms), but she is getting too heavy! I can't wait until I can't walk her outside : )
