This story reminds me of, " Are You My Mother" I just don't know where to put this little bit of nothing story but it brought a smile to my face. Too bad I was not home to get video of an unfolding saga in my garden.
Around 6:45 A.M., I stumbled out onto the patio to have a cup of coffee before I left for work. Way out in the garden I see string moving. Tugging, Pulling. Stretching. There was no wind but the string marking off the green beans was violently being pulled. My husband strings everything. Everything. Drapery cording really is good stuff ( don't tell him I told you that because I complain everything is strung out around here).
I could go on and on about all the things of string but... back to garden. A robin insists on getting this one particular piece of string but it is attached to the fencing. He is pulling and tugging relentlessly and at the time it was cute. Such an energetic and insistent little guy so early in the morning. Not me.
At 10:30 DH sent me a text that says the robin is still in the garden and exhausted but has not given up. Yanking and tugging and pulling 4 hours later.
Worried about the little bird he goes to the garden and cuts the eight foot long string into 12 inch strips. Before he finished the bird swoops down and grabs a huge piece and off it went. He came back for another and another. I think he is finished for the day because he did leave some behind.
I did not work that hard today.
You might have had to have been there today to get this very simple story but it did make me smile. It really was nice of DH to go out and save the little guy.
I know our dogs are ball obsessed but this is ..... well a stupid garden story.

Guess I am lucky. I rarely see toads but now if I do I guess the famous F removal techniques will have to be employed. This fighting back nature is getting tiring.
If I had a 6 ft snake in my yard, I would stroke out!
Those grey tree frogs inhabit the entire Eastern half of the U.S. according to Wikipedia. As far west as Texas.
I tried to fly. I cried and screamed. I looked it up in a book.... for as long as I could take the pictures.
I thought it was a large branch from the Oak Tree and pushed my lawn mower up to it--to push it out of the way. That is how big it was. Too big and thick to go under a mower--just push.
Well it flew in the air and slithered away. It was several years until I could go work back there again. No one believed me.
wow ..how odd that it got in pack on the clothes line- Especially with the fabric softener.
BUT AMAZING pictures..creepy little guy.
Love the string story and am glad you still wear a fanny pack....LOL. I always wear one to walk the dogs...you know...gotta have treats, poop bags, water, a bowl, cell phone, sometimes a camera.....Every day when we head out my Dh says "Boys, your momma is bringing back the fanny pack".
Hurray for Fanny Packs! Now I feel so much better. If Ronna wears one, I can too. They are perfect for dogs. Yes, I've used them walking dogs too.
What adventures. It is cute.
Oh it made me smile, and Mike smile, and we both agreed that Roger is that kind of guy, you are a lucky woman RJ and FJ is a lucky man.
Yes, I am.
Aw, I love the robin story! I can't believe that robin was working so hard. Your DH did good! I go out in the backyard with my first cup of coffee in the morning too. It's a thing Jack and I do together. We do our walk and check out all that has happened over night and take in the morning. One of my favorite things to do. I would have loved to come upon a hard working robin like yous! and the cool frog too!
Love those Summer mornings with coffee in the back yard. I can almost get up on time some days to do enjoy it all. I really don't wake up well. YAWN
Joanne, I love your little story and I love that FJ cut up the string for that very determined if not too bright Robin. :>) Most of us know when to quit.
Somewhere nearby there are little Chickadees living comfortably in a nest made with Quincy fur. The last time I clipped him I did it on the patio and just let the fur fly. The next day I saw the Chickadees gathering up the fur. :>)
