Hello all! just thought id recommend a product for certain situations. A lady at a pet store reccommended this aresol can spray that makes a noise dogs dont like, and everytime your dog does something like jump "in my situation" you spray it and they immediatly stop. I have to say that it does absolutley work, i just dont like the way she slouches around like it scares her so i no longer use it for that purpose. But the lady also recommended it for dog fights, if maybe your at a dog park and the dogs start fighting if you spray this they will stop what they are doing and you can have time to grab your pup. So basically in emergency situations is what i would personally use it for. It is just so amazing how it acually stops them from what they are doing that i couldnt resist mentioning it.
The one that i have is called Pet corrector

I know a lot of people who have used the Pet Corrector, and all the pups have to do now is see the can and they just behave...
My DH decided that he'd give this a try with Murph when he "reacted" to other dogs walking by our house. It had absolutely no impact at all with him. I'd be pretty skeptical of it working in a heated dog fight as well. I am glad that it was helpful for you though....it must depend on the individual dog.
We already know that Murph is a tough nut to crack. You have to admire it on some level, even when you're pulling your hair out!
Some of the on-line reviews said that it only worked intially, but that the dogs got accustomed to it fairly quickly and then ignored it.
Seems like an air-horn would have the same effect.
it does sound similar to an air horn but i dont think its as loud
Maybe an air horn would work at a dog park though? lol
I have used a similar product and I agree that it works well. My dog hated it too and after a while if I even picked up the can she would stop what she was doing and leave the area. If you use it with a verbal command at the same time she will learn and eventually just the word will work. I have been doing this and using the word "quiet" when Bailey starts barking at things outside the window. I can now yell "quiet" from another room and she will stop barking. I know what you are saying about your dog slouching and looking scared....(mine did too) but I bet if you use it for a while longer and use a key word with it, she will start responding to the word alone. Sometimes it is hard being the Alpha....but it is worth it! Good luck!
ya i find it works very well, scares the living poop out of her though! but she stops jumping when someone comes in right away (after the initial jump of course)lol but we are working on it, and it is getting alot better!
Keep it up....be consistant and pick a word to use ...like "off"....and say it at the same time you make the air noise. She will learn quickly. :)
