Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
On Sunday while driving in front of my DD leaving a friends house I passed a young lady walking an obvious "ginger red" goldendoodle, he was tall and lanky and obviously an older puppy. Of course driving by made me slow down and ask "is that a doodle?" which of course caused my DD behind me to have her DH text me to stop talking to the doodle and drive. And then this morning while driving to work I passed a woman walking her, again obvious doodle but I was on a main road and could not ask which golden or lab....thinking to myself, wow, I sure have been seeing a lot of doodles lately and no sooner did I think that but I pulled next to another car with a cream colored doodle in it. We just smiled and nodded at each others doodles in our respective cars. I typically don't engage men, if it had been a woman I assure you we would have had a conversation.
Doodles doodles everywhere. Has anyone else noticed there seems to be a whole lot of them lately?

The couple across the street from me have two Labradoodles. The man up the street has one Labradoodle. I have two of them, and another of my neighbors brought a Labradoodle pup home on Monday. We now have six within 1/2 a block. We could have a romp right in the neighborhood!
interesting ad...I'm pretty sure that dog is not going to fit in that crate! lol
You're absolutely right, Amy. He wouldn't fit in the crate.
The ad wanted to highlight British Airways' service. The story (top left) says that the owner brought the wrong size crate to check-in and the airline's ground staff took him to the pet store to get the correct one. Actually went to TWO pet stores as the first one did not have the right size crate either.
There are more and more of them here though I don't know of any Irish breeders who are doing proper health testing and most of them are F1's. We have one Goldendoodle and one Labradoodle in our town. I am only waiting for there to be lots of dogs in Irish shelters and have thought of contacting them to see if I might be able to foster in the future as I am sure as their popularity grows that is where some will end up. I check out 'Done Deal' and 'Gumtree' which are our 'Craigslist' and there are lots for sale some from obvious(to me) puppy farms and others from hobby breeders. It is making me very sad : (
Oh Yeah !! Last Sunday while coming back from a nice day on the beach we were packing up the car and a woman was walking her doodle "Lilly". Of course you could tell she was a doodle and we had to pet and talk to them. Then on the way home I was beind a car with a sticker "love my labradoodle" and sure enough a head popped up as we drove along side of the car and a beautiful labradoodle smiled at us - LOL"
Yes, definitely. We are seeing lots of Doodles in our area too. I'm not at all sure this is a good thing....new "breeders" deciding that it's okay to breed a Poodle to just about anything and call it a Doodle. My trainer was just telling me about some of the calls he has been getting to train all kinds of "Poodle mixes". Not a good thing.
Yeah, the popularity is scary--my breeder is getting lots of calls for puppies and we have to re-educate people all the time--they think any doodle is smart, easy to train, hypoallergenic, requires little or no grooming, etc etc....When I have some of the breeder's pups her at my house and I am in touch with the future owners, I send them to doodlekisses all the time and tell them to read up on the doodles we have here--there is no such thing as the perfect dog! (But we love them anyway, right, everyone?)
Yes, I see more and more of them all the time too. Plus we often have people ask us where we got Tara and showing interest in wanting a doodle so more and more people are "thinking" about getting one that don't have one already.
But I also see many of what I now call half-doodles: Labs and Golden Retrievers! LOL!
OMD Ricki that is perfect, I can't wait until I have a reason to ask about his two 1/2 Doodles (the Goldens) - Ha ha
LOL! I haven't had the nerve to say it to an owner yet!! Let me know how that goes! :)
LOVE the "half-doodle"!
