I debated about whether to add this discussion in the Photography group of here in the Art Cafe.  I'm thinking since my photos taken for this class will probably look a little more like "art" (at least I hope they do), it should probably be here.  I'm excited about the class.  I just finished the first lesson and it's confusing but intriguing at the same time.  I'm feeling like a total novice compared to the others in this class who have posted some of their prior work which is amazing.  They have big time equipment...I don't.  Anyway for me this is all about learning to look at things a little more creatively and having fun.  So, here are my first "assignment shots".  The instructor will critique them next Monday.  Since this is the first lesson, I'm pretty clueless about what she'll be looking for.  I'll let you know and add any key "learnings" to this discussion.

This one is actually tree mold that I thought looked pretty neat...

LOL....you ladies are too funny.  Okay, I'll keep sharing.  Nancie, all of these flowers are in my garden or in pots on my deck.  Once a day I go out and take a bunch of shots.  Then I come inside and delete most of them, saving just a couple that I like.  I take them in all kinds of light, so I change the time of day that I'm shooting.  I have lots of them in pots so that I can move them to get the best lighting and background.  Sometimes I pick one flower and move it somewhere else in my garden....I clip it with a cloths pin.  You'll notice that the foliage doesn't always match the blossom.  I can't wait until you start shooting with your Lensbaby.  It's so different and I find it really fun.  When you get started, let's open a Lensbaby discussion in the Photography group.  I'm thinking having a new fun toy may help to relieve some of your stress with Gracie....I hope so.

Tricky Jane, foliage not matching flower, clothespin and all. Now I will watch out for that : )

Jane, I love your pictures and I love to see the different perspectives you use. Please don't stop posting, I don't always comment but I do love to look at them.

A few more...

I have no idea how this happened but I wouldn't want to look at it after a few cocktails...

Wow, these are all just so beautiful. Wow.

Thanks Camilla!

These are amazing Jane!

Thanks, Ronna.  You're the one who got me into these classes...now I can't stop. LOL

Ah ha...Ronna...you are the one!  Do you have a Lensbaby?  I just got one but haven't got a clue what to do.  Nothing turns out.  I am going to take the class Jane took but probably can't until September when they offer it again.

I don't have the Lensbaby yet, it is on my list. I only introduced  Jane to PPSOP and started her addiction :)  I am taking several workshops here locally in the next 2 months....an HDR class,  a night photography workshop (think city lights) that I am very excited about and a creative digital photography workshop.  My next PPSOP class is a Photoshop bootcamp that starts July 6.  Gotta save my pennies for the Lensbaby.  I just Love everything Jane is doing with it...just amazing.

It was funny because Jane and I both took our first PPSOP class at the same time and the same class.  It was the 8 week one on Understanding Exposure.  They are pretty pricey though!!!  I am going to do the Lensbaby one soon.  I just signed up for a 5 once a week Photoshop Boot Camp class.  I also have signed up for various MeetUp Groups one of which is night photography, macro and stuff like that.  I am always on the look out for classes!!!  I doubt I will ever catch up with Jane.  She now has taken quite a few of the PPSOP classes and seems to have an eye for the artistic side.  I am not quite so abstract in my eye or thinking :(  Her stuff is amazing!!

Thanks, ladies.
