Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Sorry for the disgust and heartbreak you will feel when you see these pictures. They were dumped in the Harnett County Animal Shelter, NC. The DRC is pulling them because there is a volunteer that is there Doodle Angel! She will make sure that they will be groomed and vetted.
This is what the parents of pet store and internet sales of doodles look like. I am still ashamed that my Samantha came from a pet store before I was educated. It is our duty to educate the next one that doesn't know about puppy mills so breeder dogs like these 3 will not have a 'job'!
This is what Jacquie wrote on the DRC FB page.
This is so horrifically sad that I am literally in tears.......These girls are 11 years old, have been bred to death and are undoubtedly heartworm positive........ We are quite familiar with the "breeder" who keeps dumping doodles at the Harnett County Shelter.....We have had over 14 doodles in our program from Harnett within the last 2 years and all were dumped there by this same person. It seems this person dumps in 3-4 month increments. That's the cycle and we have been waiting and watching Harnett for months now anticipating the next dump. Every dog we have pulled has been heartworm positive with the exception of the 2 chocolate puppies and the 3 young Aussiedoodle boys we pulled late last year. Every dog needed thousands of dollars in care and every dog needed months of rehabbing in foster care. A small price to pay to save lives....Our concern for these girls is their age in relation to the years they have been living with heartworm. They are most certainly infested, have probably lived their entire lives this way and if that is indeed the case, have more than likely sustained pulmonary damage that will compromise their health and quality of life for the remainder of their years.
I just called the shelter and spoke with Steve Berubi the shelter director and animal control officer. These girls are indeed 11 and yes they were dumped at the shelter by the person formrly operating as "Cape Fear Labradoodles"
One or more of these dogs are probably the parents of: Lacey (Lucy), Ella, Ruby, perhaps Willow, Jenny and Cassidi....
Looks like the one on the left has been shaved
this is a pure bred poodle - even the purebreds are not safe from living a life of hell!
So numbers 15, 16 and 17 will be safe! I will post pictures and keep you updated on how they are doing when I know. Please send prayers, that even though the chances are incredibly infinitesimal that they are not heartworm positive!
To our Angel Volunteer - bless you!!!!
Today's update
there were 4, not 3. The one we thought was shaved is #4!!
2 girls are between 5-7, 1 girl is under 3 and the Chocolate boy is 11. All stink, matted, very sweet, well mannered, a bit shy, but the most incredible news is, are you ready for this??
all 4 heartworm NEGATIVE!!! Can you believe it!!! The groomer says that they are so matted that there was no way for any insect to get to get to their skin! The shelter managersaid that these might have been her personal dogs since they are in the best shape that this woman has ever dumped in their shelter.
I will post pictures as soon as I get them! Thank you all for you prayers and positive thoughts - G-d heard them!!!

I can't even imagine how an eleven year old dog who has undoubtedly received minimal health care and poor quality food her entire life is going to survive HW treatment. My first prayer for these poor girls is that they somehow test negative for heartworm. My next prayer is that they have the chance to know a little human kindness in the time they have left on this earth. My third prayer is that everyone will remember these dogs the next time they pass a pet store and are tempted to go in and see the cute puppies.
And my fourth prayer is that there is truth to the old saying "What goes around comes around", and that it applies to the person responsible for dumping these dogs.
If these dogs were not pulled from the shelter, they would be facing certain death.
So incredibly sad. I don't even know what to say....so hard to wrap my brain around something as horrible as this. This volunteer is truly an angel.
It is tragic that nothing can be done apparently to stop this "breeder:. I also wonder who will take these poor old gals in?
I so wish I could take them in. I've been worrying the exact same thing F.
Two things really worrying me. I. How can this PM be stopped, surely there must be some law that can be applied or at the very least a very large bill for the care for these poor girls. 2. Who is going to take these dogs into their homes and give them care and comfort they surely deserve for the remainder of their days?
How horrible. What an awesome volunteer, and I hope someone takes them in soon.
One already has a home to spend whatever time G-d decides to give her. Another DRC volunteer Angel! The DRC could never save the numbers of doodles we do without all of you!!! Keep sending those prayer!
Just got a phone call that there are 2 more in a different shelter in NC that will be euthanized tomorrow if we don't get them out! They are not in the same shape or as old as these 3.
We need foster homes!! If anyone can open their hearts and homes to a doodle please let me know!
where are the other 2?
An Adoptive Mom of one of our doodles is pulling and fostering both of them. They are in Catawba County. From what our volunteer says there may be more in the next week. Guess 'breeding season' is coming to a end - I hate them!!!
This puppy miller has been on my mind a lot this last week as we are coming up on the 1 year mark of Lacey (then Lucy) and Cassadi being pulled from Harnett shelter after being dump by said PM. It broke my heart to see she had once again dumped more dogs.
This is just disgusting. Bless all of the volunteers that are helping them. I hope they get to know the good side of humans, too, thanks to your efforts.
