Anyone have any idea if there is a desire for Labradoodles. We are planning to breed our female.

You bet there is a desire for Labradoodles, and because of this desire, there is also a demand.  However....you have to balance the desire/demand with the responsibility of breeding your pet.  You need to do a lot of research before you even think of doing that.  I think when you do that, you will decide that it is better to leave the breeding up to the breeders.  Just because you have an intact female that you love does not mean that you should be a breeder.  My suggestion would be to spay/neuter all pets so that you don't end up becoming a "backyard breeder".

And BTW, I have always had my pets spayed or neutered, but one of my neighbors had a female pet that went into heat and my dogs tore up their paws on the fence and gate trying to get out to get to her.  The owner had no idea that neutered dogs would still do this, but nature is nature and the dogs have no idea that they cannot breed.  So, being a good neighbor would also require that you neuter/spay pets.  We live in the country and all the lots are over an acre so there is plenty of room around here. Just another consideration.

YIKES! Of course I have a contract from her breeder and the only reason I wanted to breed her, was to share the wonderful temperment she has with people in my area. I am not looking to make a buck. I certainly would not do it at my beautiful girls expense. I had planned to only have one or two litters depending on how it goes. And yes I have a few mentors. Sorry to cause such an uproar! I stumbled across your website and thought I could connect with fellow doodle lovers. WRONG! PEACE!

Denise, don't get scared. We've just seen way too many people with no breeding knowledge who decide to breed their dogs without giving it a deeper thought. Each good breeder must have started somehow so it's good that you have a mentor and you are doing all your research. I wish you all the best in your endeavor if you decide to go that route. I know nothing about breeding dogs, but I'm pretty sure it's not easy.

Joining a website composed of over 9000 doodle owners and immediately posting:  "Anyone have any idea if there is a desire for Labradoodles. We are planning to breed our female." does not look like the way most people would try to "connect with fellow doodle lovers". It also doesn't look like the way most people who have purchased a dog on a breeding contract and are being mentored would approach the issue of breeding her.

We are all sorry if we misinterpretted your intentions, but given the information you provided, I don't think we can be blamed for that.

I have to agree with others...you gave us sooo little info on you, your breeding plans, your dog's background, goals in breeding, etc...we could only assume you met the criteria for casual breeding that most people express when joining and immediately posting about breeding.  'Is there a desire for labradoodles?' seemed like the 1st question one would research before even considering breeding.  Like I mentioned earlier, of course WE will say YES!  We are doodle crazy :)  But you say you want to supply people in your area with doodles.  This says to me that the question needs to be posed to potential dog owners in your are not to us.  Is there a desire for labradoodles near you?  Or is it merely your desire to share but not much of a desire from others to buy?  I would want 'desire' expressed from TWICE as many people as possible pups because many people talk about buying a possible FUTURE pup from a not yet existent litter...but don't follow through.  And is there a deaire from locals to pay you what it will take for you to break even after testing, etc?  Friends might love a pup but may not want one that costs over $1000.  If you are wealthy and are breeding out of philanthropy...fine.  But if you need to break even, then you might reconsider till you have downpayment type comittments.
