My ALD has been getting lots of experiences lately and since he just turned two years old, he is the perfect age. He is in obedience classes (repeat) and agility classes. Sometimes I think the classes are more for me than for him. He has a swim class scheduled next week with a canine rehab specialist. He loves the water at the ocean but I want him to learn to swim in water in a pool or at a lake and I have no idea how to go about that.
Last week he was going through some jumps at agility and I was having problems directing him correctly. My trainer brought out her champion border collie and took her through the course painlessly. It looked so easy. I asked if I could try with her dog and she said sure. Well, I used my right hand to point to the fifth set of jumps and the dog finished the course and then came to me and scolded me. The trainer said it was because I used my right hand to point to some jumps and she knew I was wrong. Can you believe that!?! Scolded by a dog for pointing with the wrong hand!

I want to know just how this Border Collie went about scolding you, Lynda. Did she give you a good talking to, or did she really go off into a rant? Any finger pointing or shaking?
LOL
The border collie put her front end down on the grass and barked angrily at me. You could tell it was not just excitement and her trainer just laughed and said she was mad at me. I asked why and the trainer told me. Border collies are so intense.
Oh, the humiliation! Told off by a dog!
Very intense. My trainer had one and it was amazing but not particularly likeable : )
Funny, Lynda! Like getting scolded by a child. Trav is very tuned to pointing, but I don't think he cares which hand is doing the pointing. :)
Lynda,
Many years ago, when I was first dating my husband, he warned me that his dog did scold him when he returned from being out of town. Well, I just blew off the comment and had forgotten all about what he had said.
He and I had gone away for 4 days, and we boarded his dog. A nice place. When we came home and picked her up, she "scolded him all the way home" She sat next to him in the truck and without breaking a stare or blinking an eye, she barked in a high pitch scream for 10 straight miles. I had never witnessed a dog scold someone. She was clearly yelling at him
My husband's face was beat red! Clearly he was upset. Clearly the dog was very upset with him. Never saw anything like it in my life.
Well it happens, I have been "scolded" by a bird and my cat a few times...
