Our breeder just told us our puppy died

So, sad.  We just found out from our breeder that our goldendoodle we had put a deposit on died.  From what we were told the 2 reds of the litter passed away from a strange internal organ bleeding condition.  We have since decided to go with another breeder (which we need to find in Northern California).  Please feel free to PM me with any great Goldendoodle breeders in the bay (there aren't many- most seem to be labradoodle breeders).  The wait lists are so long and we were so ready to have our girl home now!  We are heartbroken.

I am so sorry for your sad news.  Waiting is so hard and then to have this happen.  I hope that you are able to find another breeder.  Unfortunately I don't know anyone in CA to refer you to, but there are lots of people here who might.  Hopefully someone will have a good suggestion for you.  Just remember though, the one thing you don't want to do is go with someone you otherwise wouldn't just to get your puppy now.  The right puppy will find its way to you, just try and be patient.  It will be worth it in the end.

Oh I am so sorryto hear this, how sad!!!  This is heartbreaking to be sure but just a word of caution - please make sure before you find another breeder that this breeder is going to give you your full refund back.  Given the situation they should - I'd be checking.  And not wanting to add to your already sad and stressful state I do recall a time a while back on DK where a breeder told someone that their puppy had died only to have turned around and sold it for more money to someone else.  No good breeder would ever do such a thing but then again I've never heard of two puppies that have died of a internal bleeding condition.  We have some breeders here on DK who might be able to shed some light on that.  {{{{Hugs}}}} to you and know that the puppy meant to be yours will find its way to you!!!!

Thank you for your kind words.  We have already received our deposit back and are looking at, in contact with and researching 5 new breeders closer to our home.  I will be following up with our last breeder to see what actually happened.  He did say they rarely lose puppies and there are further medical investigations being completed to figure out what happened.... Seems so weird though!

It ore happen. Our breeder has lost puppies before and she is totally legit. One was from sickness, one the mom rolled over on the puppy. So sad. Heart breaking but it does happen even to well bred dogs.

That is terrible.  I'm so sorry.  Unfortunately I don't have any breeder suggestions for you, but just curious why you aren't interested in a labradoodle at all (especially since there might be more breeder options available).  I tried to find a post that I had seen months ago where people were posting pictures of 2 doodles where 1 was a goldendoodle and 1 was a labradoodle and it was virtually impossible to determine which was which, but of course I couldn't find it.

Thanks, for your reply :-)  I'm feeling a bit better after all of the wonderful support.  I can't say why exactly I prefer goldendoodles... I like the face a bit better, and for a weird reason my husbands parents have a pure golden and having a goldendoodle would make them "cousins".  Weird, I know.  Oh and then there seems to be the price difference.   It seems Labradoodles are $1000 more than a goldendoodle.  But given our situation and the fact that there are more labradoodle breeders, we are opening up our search to Labradoodles as well.  Wish us luck!

The higher generation labradoodles and Australian labradoodles should be the only ones $1000 more than a goldendoodle.  An F1b usually is not.
