How to groom doodle with partial sparse fur on back legs

My Murphy has the full front leg fur but his back legs have shorter sparse hair just above the ankle or middle section of his leg. Is this common?  The bottom part of his leg from the foot to the first joint is muck thicker especially in the back.so it just doesn't look like the doodles with full columns of fir front and back.

So what can I do with those back legs?

David, would you try to get a picture and post it here in this discussion so we can get a visual?

Many of our doodles have uneven and different hair growth on parts of their body.  If we could see what you are talking about maybe we can go from there.

I knew someone would ask for a piicture.....

I looked through all I have and will have to take one tomarrow and post it which I can do since I am on vacation.

I actually did trim the back of his lower legs and it looks better already.
