Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

This discussion is for identifying the hidden poodle traits that shape the dogs we so love. For reference, I've added a few links to the breed standards of poodles, goldens, and labs.

For example, one of the traits of a poodle is potential shyness or timidness with strangers, whereas the golden standard says that goldens have no fear of strangers. Well, Angel is a bit shy, especially with men. Is this due to the fact that she's a puppy or that part of her genes are poodle genes?

You be the judge. And add more qualities of your own dogs. It'll be interesting to see how they compare. =0)

My Mac the Labradoodle barks like a poodle... not terribly obnoxious, but sometimes more than I would like for her to bark. However, she never meets a stranger and love everyone!
My new 14 week old goldendoodle seems to be very shy with strangers and I, too, wonder if that will change as she matures!

Interesting.

Our goldendoodle is basically a black golden retriever. He doesn't look anything like a poodle or a curlydoodle.

He has all of the traits that the golden retriever link described. He LOVES people and other dogs and has absolutely no timidness or shyness. He rarely barks.

His mother was a huge black standard poodle but I never met the golden retriever male.

I'm hoping he picked up the poodles smarts but thats about it, lol.
