It seems lately I've had the very distinct feeling that Banjo is trying to send me telepathic messages.   What else could it be????   He walks over to where ever I happen to be sitting and will just stand there staring into my eyes.   It's impossible to ignore him.   I mean it's as though he's trying to bait me into a a staring contest!    If my mother were here I might be likely to yell out "Mommmmmmmmm he's staring at ME!!!!"      OK, I realize he is "just a dog" and he's probably not "into" staring contests.   But clearly he is trying to "speak" to me......trying to "tell" me something.   And being just "a human"....I'm just not getting it!!!!    I feel so incompetent!

It does seem that we spend a good bit of time trying to figure out what Banjo wants.    Sometimes he's very "direct" and other times you just have to be very "intuitive".   Two weeks ago I had put a tiny piece of  dehydrated liver treat (his all time favoritest, bestest treat in the world) on the windowsill over the kitchen sink after finding it in my pocket.   That evening as we sat watching television, Banjo wandered into the kitchen, laid down and started moaning.   WTD????   This was way out of character for him.   He always stays right where we are....so this raised concern with us....what could be wrong???? What could he want.....is he hunger???  There's water in his bowl....he's eaten plenty today....well, it took me a while and then he stood up and aimed his nose right at the treat on the windowsill.   Treat given.....happy dog wanders back into living room to re-join the pack.

Two nights ago we went upstairs to bed and Banjo refused to come up.   After much coaxing he finally came up but would not settle down.   Banjo is much like DH...a creature of habit for sure....and this was not part of his routine.   Now what?   We were immediately concerned as we'd already fretted that he hadn't done his usual "2 poops" that day and only done one...so he must need to go outside....so DH took him outside.....nothing....no go!    Coaxing him back up to the bedroom and tell him to lay down...lights off...and shortly thereafter we hear the pacing....and then he's by the door....moaning.   What do we do???   I convince DH to just let him out .... maybe he's decided he wants to sleep downstairs...he's a big boy now....maybe he wants his privacy.    Now I'm laying in bed at full alert listening for his footsteps.   Finally I can't stand it any longer and get up to see what he's doing.

I look by the front door, he's not there.   Check the living room, he's not there.   Walk into the kitchen...he's standing there in full darkness.....staring at the window!    OMD.....I'd left another crumb of a liver treat there earlier that day!    I think, he thought if he stood there and stared at it long enough it would come to him....and sure enough it did!!!!!     Once he got the treat it was upstairs to bed for both of us.    We're still laughing.   : )

I love that Kona has a happy Stare and a serious stare!  LOL!

Bonnie, I love that Kona has the smile and the smile-less stares!  Maybe I'm not as crazy as I think.  Because Finn has several silent stares he uses on me.  There's the ever popular, complete with cocked head "Did you say WALK??"(I've taken to spelling the "word") and then there's the inquisitive, sweet, "I want... (and I swear some day the word WILL pop out of his mouth" and then the somber direct stare (used only when he's in serious trouble) which means (I think)  "This wouldn't have happened if you had only..." Then there's the BIG grin he saves for people he really likes - which has scared more than a few strangers! I've never been so blessed with a dog that has such a facial "repertoire." LOL . It seems to be a doodle trait & expands with age...  and oh yes, I'm getting trained!

Finnegan sounds just adorable! I've only seen Kona do the head tilt once and it was almost imperceptible, but my DD got a picture of it. I LOVE the head tilt!

Thanks, Bonnie.  Yep. FInn is a head tilter...almost every time I say something to him. Am I THAT interesting or is he just a little hard of hearing?

I'm sure you are that interesting! hugs.

Carol, that's too funny!  But it's clear.  Banjo needs his own "step stool!"

Trav has a version of the stare/bark he uses when he's in the yard, has taken care of business and there's a bit of poo stuck to his rear.  He'll lie down and 'call' me with an odd barky whine unlike any other sound he makes.  When I look out and see him lying there staring toward the door, I let him know I heard him, arm myself with damp paper towels and scissors, and go out to clean him up.  Fortunately, this has always been just a little bit of poo, so far anyhow.  Yucky, but I guess it's better than having him bring it inside!

OMD....Pat, I'd like to nominate you for "Doodle Mom Of The Year"!!!!!

Ha,ha---it's more a matter of not having any choice.  Somebody else might feed the dog, or play ball with him, but nobody is gonna volunteer for anything having to do with poo duty.

Wow Pat! You are an EXTREMELY well trained doodle mom!!! I am SO impressed! That is deserving of some sort of award!

Pat, You are Doodle Mom of the Year, but I think Traveler is definitely the Most Conscientious Doodle of the Year! Neither of mine care one bit where poo may be stuck!

Bonnie, you're right-Trav is awesome!! Tara doesn't give a poop either!
