Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi everyone,
I know I joined 2 months ago and have been pretty m.i.a since but I just about lurk this site every day for all the amazing advice that is on here. I have a bit more time on my hands now so hopefully can be more active in my postings and thought I would start by sharing my experience of Jasper's first trip to the groomers.
I took him in a couple weeks ago so he can get used to going, and just got some basic things done (nail clipping, face, paws, and sanitary regions trimmed, and a wash and brush). I almost cried when I went to pick him up, and it wasn't even a full body cut! I posted a couple pictures (hopefully it worked) just so you guys can see for yourself.
Thankfully the hair on his face has grown in a bit and it doesn't look as ridiculous anymore, but I don't think I will ever be going to this groomer again, lol.
On a happier note, Jasper is almost 5 months and is the most amazing dog. He is so full of energy and just entertaining to watch - I think he does the funniest things! He has yet to meet someone (human or dog) he doesn't want to be best friends with which makes walking him a real challenge for me, but we are getting better! :)

ha ha - I am sorry but aside from his head appearing to look a bit bigger than his body he is still absolutely adorable and I am not sure that is just not the angle of the picture.
You are going to find that finding "the groomer" to be one of the most challenging things about having a doodle, at least I did. Almost as hard as finding "the Vet"
PS) lots of Lurkers on DK, they are all welcome.
:o)
I just want to hug him--I love the feeling of freshly groomed doodle! Jasper is adorable and I would love to be his best friend too!
He is a cutie, strange haircut or not. :-) Finding a groomer will be a challenge, many of us have struggled with that.
Jasper is adorable! He looks soooo soft! He seems to be such a happy boy!
He's adorable, even with a not-so-great haircut. He looks a little bit like a lion, lol.
Yes so many people have told me he now looks like a lion!
I kinda like his haircut! There's this place near where I live with all the grooming tools and table, and for $20 my boyfriend and I cut our doodle's hair just the way we like it.
I should look into that and see if they offer something like that in my area... although I don't think anything I would accomplish would be much better, lol
Jasper is adorable. On the grooming this is the reason I do it myself LOL all mistakes are my own!
I like the lion look! He looks fine, watch how fast that hair grows! Monty is 3, we have been thru 4 groomers. The last one at Petco did an ok job, but I could tell it was too rushed, she never clipped him to the length, always too long, too many training to cut, too many dogs and Monty was barking his head off when I would go into pick him up, couldnt see him, but I know his bark. I took a gamble an another, she is in a private home, older woman, by gosh she came out to meet us in the driveway. When we went in, wow, just Monty no other dogs and she has turned out to be a wonderful groomer, I can tell she really likes Monty, he is done in 3 1/2 hours vs 5 hours and much less stress.
It can be an adventure to find the right one, hang in there. He really does look fine.
Jasper, poor baby. I'm so sorry we are laughing at you. It's not at you, it's at your groomer. But I don't think I've ever seen a cut like that. :-)
The good news is, it grows back very fast and you are one cute looking dood. You can't look bad in any haircut. :-)
The first thing I did was made sure I got a picture so I could laugh at it later LOL
