Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Last week I took Finnegan with me on a short vacation to Williamsburg, VA and look what we found??
The Dog Street Pub! So named in honor of the owner's doodle! We stopped by but the owner and famous doodle were not there. It's a fun place though...with an inside and outdoor pub. Judging from the sign, we think the famous doodle is a labradoodle but what do you think? All the waiters and waitresses wear shirts with said doodle. Finn was limited to one drink :) as he was the designated copilot for the drive home. And everyone knows ALDs can't hold their liquor LOL! Finn says if you're in the area, he shamelessly recommends it as a great place to meet other dogs and people, although he much prefers swimming in the James River as opposed to hanging out in town. He also said, it would be more fun if some of the (famous) DK doodles were there!

Ha ha ! That's great Marnie! Finnie says your brother must be awesome!
Love it!
Me too, Stephanie.
When I was 27 and single I was working for the US Air Force as a civilian. I excitedly took a promotion to work at a small US Air Force Base in England. My first week there some of my co-workers took me to a small local Pub for dinner. As I sat there eating some of the best pork chops with applesauce (thank you for introducing me to that) that I have ever eaten, a dog walked through the Pub and a Cat jumped up onto the chair beside me. Being the American that I was I was like WTD is going on ... that is when I learned it was completely acceptable and not out of the norm for people to bring their dogs to the Pub and there to be a Pub cat or two! Wouldn't I love to be able to do that today! We could (and I did) learn so many wonderful things from our British friends!
There's a little place in British Virgin Islands on Bellamy Cay called The Last Resort that we went to a few years ago that had a resident cat who was a permanent fixture on the bar. Made me feel right at home! Great bar and friendly folks too!
Joy, Finney says the Dog Street Pub is DOGS only! But he wouldn't mind if I sent our 2 resident cats to the British Virgin Islands as permanent bar fixtures. He's so bad ;)
Thanks for sharing Lucy. I love that story. That's quality of life! When I was traveling up in Maine many years ago, we stopped at a lovely old Inn for dinner. The tables had table clothes and as I sat down my foot hit a big furry bundle and out from under the table lumbered a big beautiful Newfoundland dog.
Cheryl, thanks for letting us know about this place. We are only about an hour from Williamsburg and go down there 3 or 4 times a year, but have never heard about it. We will definitely check this out. Sounds like fun!!
Oh, fun. I hope you do.
That would be a great place to hang out with a dood and have a few adult beverages!
I live in England and there are loads of dog friendly pubs around!! Up in London maybe not, but down here in the suburbs and in the countryside it's quite common! Wispa loves an evening out at the pub :)
There's even a dog pub register: http://www.doggiepubs.org.uk/
Really? I would like that. I know it's pretty common in Switzerland too. Thanks for the link. BTW - I LOVE the name Wispa and you have some interesting photos of her on your page. She's a doll.
