Disappearing Discussions

Discussions fly by in a twinkling lately and I for one think some of them are worth having around longer. And that refers not only to mine : ) Other discussions could disappear instantly and not be missed, no offense to most people intended. I would love to see the birthday area eliminated, who needs to be reminded of birthdays? Some of us think those come too often. So if the birthday area on the front page were eliminated the discussions would have a bigger piece of front page real estate and be visible longer.  After all, who needs to send birthday wishes to Banfield The Pet Hospital, as some did lately. I assume it's some bot that does this automatically.

If you want to remember particular friends birthdays you can use a service, which is free, to get emails beforehand.

I have to admit, I like the birthday notices. I like leavinga Happy Birthday message on a friend's page, and I do try to check them daily.

I think lately some discussions have been disappearing quickly because we have had one or two new members posting lots of new discussions on the same day.

But don't discussions stay around anyway when they are active?

I was wondering this too...if a discussion is older, but people are still responding to it, does it stay on the main page?? I thought it did, but now I'm thinking it doesn't.....

No, it does not. They move down and off in order.

No, they move down the page. YOu can still answer. If you have particular friends you could always use something for birthday notification like:

You get an email beforehand. I use for for friends and family. But with almost 10,000 members it gets cumbersome on DK.

I don't do apps. Don't need more email, passwords, etc. I like that DK keeps track for me.

I know what you mean about how fast the discussions seem to be disappearing, but I'm a fan of the BDay listings.  I like sending Birthday messages to friends, and I really like getting them. LOL  I think it's been more noticeable lately, hopefully it's just an anomaly.

I hate that the discussions disappear so quickly, especially when an old discussion gets bumped for something that has been mentioned on the front page at least 3 times in one week. Sorry...but it is a pet peeve of mine....rant over :)
