Lucy says "Yes, I'm laying on this pillow, but only because I want to, not because I have to.  Do you see a leash on me!".

Ding Dong The Wicked Cage is Gone!

Lucy had her 7 week follow up today.  Should of been 6 weeks but the Dr was on Vacation last week.  Anyway, good news is that she does not have to stay on leash or crated in the house any longer.  She can be free to roam as much as she would like.  It is ok if she jumps up on the Sofa, just no flights of stairs, which we don't have anyway.  The disappointing news is that the short walks I thought she was going to get are pretty short.  We get to add 5 mins to each of her outside potty breaks.  So, lets say she is normally out for 10 mins, this week she can have a 15 min walk for potty.  Next week 20 mins, etc.  That's for the next 6 weeks.  Then after that she is allowed outside in the back yard for limited play.  Not with Sophie, but by herself.  Sophie instigates pretty rough play so I know I will probably need some pretty good drugs before I get up the nerve to let them out together.  However, it is a while before we have to worry about that.  He said that the knee feels really good.  That she has a lot of range of motion both bending it and straightening it, so that was all good news.  Now we just worry about it for the next 4 months or so and try and be patient as we build up those walks.   The purpose of the short walks is to build her muscles back up after laying for 7 weeks.   So far she is mostly just laying around the house.  It is so good though to come into a room and have her smiling little sweet face walk up to you rather than have to go over to her pen to say hello!  It has been a long 7 weeks, but we have very good end results as the outcome in the future.  I just wish I could make that a reality for all the other little Doodles out there going through much tougher times.

OH AND THE GOOD NEWS I FORGOT -- She lost almost 4 lbs which made the Doctor really happy since she did it with absolutely no exercise!  Yeah!

LOL Laurie--I too would like to know the secret to Lucy's Miracle Diet! Sounds like a moneymaker to me.

We were really shocked on the weight loss.  We had been trying since a month before her surgery and she hadn't lost anything on surgery day.  She really didn't eat a whole lot while laying around.  I had her down to 2 cups of food per day and she didn't even eat all of that.

Wonderful news and Happy days for Lucy!

hip hip hooray for Lucy ... and you.

I am so glad Lucy is feeling better.I have been wondering how she has been doing.

What a lot of work for you and her to keep her inactive all that time!

Congratulations to Sophie on her progress.  How exciting that she can be unleashed inside and her outside walks have been increased.

Great news!  Hopefully the next steps of rehab will go smoothly.

YAY!!! I am so thrilled for Lucy that she's out of that crate and having house freedom!  Good job, Momma!!
