Insects---Not for the squeamish

Given the facts that we have birds,  and I am now surrounded by spiders and their webs, and we just had a discussion started on a praying mantis, I decided it was time for insects to have their own ongoing discussion. I just so happened to get a fine spider today.

Please add all interesting specimens . We've had some lovely butterflies and bees I know.

Spiders are our friends! -- I do outreach and education for the Stormwater Quality Program and they have me trained . . . I make my husband put spiders outside instead of killing them; though I'm sure he kills them when I'm not around!!

I try to keep them alive too. But they are not allowed to be on me or my bed, I have my limits!

There is not a telephoto in the world long enough to get me close enough to take that spiders picture. I am terrified of spiders. Terrified.

Beautiful butterflies! I had that plant in the garden last year, I don't remember the name but it didn't smell very nice.

Love lantanas, butterflies and spiders.  But what's the thing about 10 egg cartons?  We had a lot of spider webs in the garage and a hummingbird got tangled up in the webs.  My husband held her in his hand while I removed the spider webs with a tweezers.  When I got them all off, she flew away.  Big birds & spiders?  Eggs?  I'm confused, but definitely a lover of insects (and birds).
