doodle's hair.  Stuart is now 17 months old and other than a puppy cut on his face and a sanitary - his hair has never been cut.  It is 6 to 8 inches depending on the location, his tummy being 6 and his back and head being 8 inches.  He is so darn cute and people just love his look but he is a shedder, his hair is every place.  Also being in FL and loving to swim - would he feel better if it were shorter.  I'm considering trying it shorter.  Have you cut your doodle's hair, how long was it and how short did you go?

Luna sheds, so her hair has a definite length... she sheds a LOT and her hair (except her tail hair, which is very "doodly") never gets longer than about 2-3".

It's sort of nice, though because other than using the Furminator to cut down on house tumbleweeds she doesn't need brushing.  I do trim her sanitary area, paw pads and chest though.

Loving all the long haired Doods.

Trixies is 9-10" on her back-where it is the longest. She is about 20 months.  It has only been trimmed once about 10 months ago without permission.

She sheds some.  Matts a little.  I have to comb her out every other day.  I will be gone this fall for about 8 days.  My dd is staying with Trixie & will need to comb her out...Im nervous about that.

Stuart looks very pleased with himself in the chair

Jack's never had a haircut, and his hair is about the same length as Stuart's. He is also a heavy shedder, but in my experience, cutting the hair doesn't help with that. When I fostered German Shepherds, that short hair all over the place was just as difficult to clean up as the long hair, if not more so. Instead of tumbleweeds, I had little hairs all over everything; at least the long hair clumps together.

This was Bailey last year at her longest.  I love her long wavy locks but for the summer and since she loves to swim so much, I have kept her shorter.  One more grooming for the fall and then I will let her locks grow out for the winter...

Either way, Stuart is one handsome dood!!!

This is Kahula, I was scrolling down and saw Bailey, I thought it was Kahlua!

I keep FInn about an inch long in the summer and 2-3 inches in winter.  I'm not that good a groomer and he's not that patient so we're happiest this way.  I'm impressed with those of you that can keep them long.

Stuart looks awesome.  For your convenience, it probably needs to be cut if he is going to swim a lot.  Clancy is also a shedder and the one time we tried really short it made NO difference in the shedding but he looked stupid. He doesn't have a chance to go to the beach often. I sprayed Horse Mane 'N Tail in his coat and it really helped.

Stuart is adorable. Perfect length for him.  If you lived where it gets cold, he would be a great lap warmer:)
