Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

My Aussie, Sami, is four months old now and never barks. I know she can because she did bark once!! Is this common? I don't want a dog that barks all the time, but it would be nice if she barked when someone came, etc. Thanks

My Oliver (Labradoodle) does not bark hardly at all, Sasha my Goldendoodle is a barker.  Ollie only barks when he sees a squirrl in the back yard that he can't get at other wise not a peep out of him, even when the door bell rings he does not bark.  Now my Sasha she barks at noises and things you would want a dog to bark at door bell, people passing your house a strange noise etc. other wise they are pretty quiet dogs :)

When Charlie was a puppy he never barked.  We thought there was something wrong with him!  After about a year or so, he found his voice!

Peri didn't bark until later either....

Count your blessings, as it will probably change as she matures =)

Exactly......

As I read this, I chuckle because my three bark at every little twig breaking in the yard--my neighbor just pulled in and it was a barkfest! I agree that this could change when the pup becomes more territorial--guarding the yard is not her job just yet--she is just a baby!

Riley was one year old when he first barked. Now he only barks when someone comes to the door.

Same with Harley

My aussiedoodle didn't start barking until this month.  He's a week shy of 6 months.  I say count your blessings too :)

Most likely she will 'learn' to bark as she matures.  My dogs didn't bark when they were little but do now - much to my distaste.
