Jack's always slept in my room. He was 14 months old when I adopted him and housebroken, with perfect house manners, so he has always had free reign of the house, and he has never had a crate.
He is allowed on my bed, but for some reason, doesn't like to share it with me, lol. He spends the night alternating between his own bed on the floor at the foot of my bed, or lying on the carpet next to my side of the bed.
Lolli spends the night in her crate in our family room. She goes in herself when she is worn out and glares at us as if telling us it's time to turn off the TV/Wii/music/computer and go to bed. HA!
During the day, she is usually snoozing on the marble perch of the fireplace. She is 9 weeks and 11 pounds now, I wonder how long she will fit and what she will do when she can't.
(The little angel pup figurine was given to me by my bestie when our beloved chocolate lab passed. It still makes me cry!)
All of our pooches start out in bed with us. If it is a warm night Harlow and Lacey will usually move to the floor to find cooler spots. Shoot we had to up-size to a king size bed so there was room for humans and pooches (and sometimes a cat or 2).
My dogs sleep on mats by our beds, but they come into bed when invited for coffee in the morning. They are just too large to actually sleep in the bed with us. If it is warm, Groucho Too sleeps in the bathroom on the cool tiles. We call him our "hot dog", because he selects cool places to rest. Daytime, it is the kitchen tiles, nighttime, the bathroom tiles.
Lachlan and Declan sleep in their crates in my bedroom at night. Someday I'd like to have them loose in the bedroom, but right now I'm afraid I'd wake up wondering where the bedding went if I tried that. (The last time Dec jumped up on the bed he promptly grabbed a mouthful of sheet and started trying to eat it, sigh. Someday.)
During the day when they feel the need for a nap it's usually on or under the grooming table these days, for some reason.
Oh my gosh I love this pic!! They are too cute :)
Thank you for the summary Sue. I have seen similar discussions pop up from time to time, but I figured this is a topic that is ongoing and can be "refreshed" every so often as new folks join and our Doodles go through different stages. For instance, if you asked me this question two months ago I would have had a totally different answer for you :). How about your Murphy and Bella?
