Giardia From Hell!

My poor puppy has had Giardia for 2 months. I've given her panacur for 5 days each time and it comes back shortly after. The vet said maybe he thinks it is living in the background? I clean up her diarrhea with a pooper scooper and then the area with the hose to disperse from the grass. Maybe I have been dispersing the Giardia? I live in Santa Monica, CA it has been raining a lot and maybe that is making it spread. Should I spray the lawn with lysol after she poops? Did anyone have such problems? I've started washing her paws and behind in the sink but I am afraid it is living in the sink now? Did anyone just use plain old baby wipes and call it a day after several times of Giardia? She is definitely feeling better but I've had her on panacur for 9 days now. I'm afraid when she goes off the panacur she will be sick again. Does anyone have advice for the lawn?? Thank you

Thank you! I hope this is over soon. His results were 4+, which was the highest amount, I was told.

I didn't bleach toys I just put them in the washing machine they will get rinsed away with soap and water (like when it is on your hands). I also wouldn't get tested unless you have symptoms of giardia ie horrible diarrhea. Also, you should do the bleaching and cleaning after at least 3 days of panacur because it takes a few days for the medicine to work.

Ugh....reading this thread makes my head hurt.  We got our labradoodle pup a week ago yesterday and he has giardia.  He's on antibiotics (almost done with those), a probiotic and Panacur (the last dose was tonite).  Another fecal in 2 weeks and I'm HOPING that it'll be clear because I want to put him in puppy class.  His stool is slowly thickening up, not the liquid that it was...ugh.  Poor guy.  We've been feeding a bland diet since we brought him home - rice/chicken/yogurt/cottage cheese.  Good luck all....so not fun, for us or the pups.
