The DRC has been asked to assist in an Amish Puppy Mill surrender of approximately 35 dogs with a few doodles. Jeannine Smith, my daughter MarissaTait and I will be leaving 4:30am Saturday
for the 3 hour drive to Lancaster PA

I don't know any of the specifics as to why these 2 brothers are surrendering all these dogs but we are all grateful that they are!

Does anyone in the Lancaster, PA area know of a vet that is open Saturday mornings? We will be giving the doodles a capstar (for fleas) immediately but we would like to have them checked out by a vet and give them vaccines before they go to their foster homes.

Please keep all these dogs in your prayers that they have no real health issues that will affect them in finding their forever homes.

We live in Mount Joy, PA as well.  Companion Animal is a wonderful vet.  We took our two previous dogs there for years.  When we got our doodle we started going to Donegal Animal Hospital in Mount Joy just because it was closer.  If Companion can't get you in, Donegal's number is (717) 653-9396.  Not sure if they are open Saturday or not.

Also, if there is anything you need please let me know.  We would be glad to help.

Dave, It's wonderful that you want to help but you should probably remove your cell# and send it to Adrianne in a private message. You never know who's out there. :>)

Isn't that the # of the animal hospital, not Dave's number? Or did he remove it already...

By the way, I am wondering if this puppy mill might be Amish--there are quite a few Amish puppy mills in PA.

He's good, he removed it already. :>)

It was there but he's removed it.

Ginny - there are 2 Amish Puppy Mills are surrendering dogs. 2 brothers that live hours apart. I believe that the brother that is driving from Ohio(??) has the doodles. I am going to try to find our where they are and make sure that they have my DRC card to let us know whenever they need to surrender doodles. The only way to make sure that they will surrender is to make 'friends'. Makes me nauseous to attempt that but we want them to surrender any doodles and not kill them or send them to a kill shelter. I hate what they do but nothing we can say or do will stop them. We can only take what they offer to surrender.

Ugh, between Ohio and PA there are too many of them. But you are right, catch more flies with honey. Good Luck Adrianne.

Thank you Adrianne, you guys rock. I'll make a small donation since that's all I can do. We took a hit at the vet ourselves but I'll do what I can.

Here is a link to the DRC website if anyone else would like to help.
