Aw, if you like the cut don't blame the groomer for how your dog reacted to the smell. Most grooming shops have many many options for shampoo, and will gladly wash the dog in whatever you bring if that's what you would prefer.
If you're happy with the cut, it may be less stressful for the dog if you continue to use the same grooming shop. I'm a professional groomer and we try to have the same groomers groom regular clients because the dogs learn to trust and respect us. It makes grooming easier for both the dog and the groomer! I have many clients who bring me their own shampoo, or they simply request a basic tearless shampoo that has very little smell to it. The dog leaves smelling clean but nothing over the top.
Just my 2 cents! My dogs also tend to sniff at each other after getting a bath and haircut.
i do like her cut! But i'm not sure about this place since they have the dogs crated. The groomer previous to this one has them running free around. I have yet to find the perfect place but there are a couple Day care places with groomers that I have been wanting to try out. Since they get to run around after they get groomed. I'm nervous about Bender...what if he doesn't get along with the other dogs =(. And he will cry and cry and cry if I leave him.
Dogs are so funny. No wonder they keep us entertained. When introducing a new dog into my pack I have washed it and my other dogs with the same soap and they almost don't notice the intruder. lol
Perhaps it is like me seeing someone without my glasses and then with. :-}
When I got Buster shaved down for the summer ( he had quite long hair ), when I brought him home, his German Shepard brother could do nothing but bark and have his hair on his back stand up straight! It took a few minutes before he realized who he was. And he was nowhere close to him to smell him yet.
isn't that interesting? I always thought dogs recognize one another by scent! I guess they go by looks as well!
