About 2 months ago, I was playing with my blue monkey on the footstool and started to bounce up and down on him. I was having a great time, when I felt my mom lift me up and say “Oh no you don’t! Let’s go outside and play ball!” I was ok with that. But since then, I have to admit I have been caught red-handed many times!
Last weekend, my sister and her husband came to visit for a long weekend. I do love my sister, so I took my stuffed elephant over to her and started “playing” with him on the footstool. I heard my sister shriek “Ewwwweee! What is wrong with him (I know she means me)? When did HE start doing that?” Then I feel my mom’s arms around me and she carried me into her bedroom and laid me on the bed. I thought she was going to give me a tummy rub, but instead she examines my penis and gets a little streak of blood on her hand – not much, just a tiny bit. Then I hear her say softly, “well, my little man, you are going to the doctor first thing tomorrow”. Ok, I love to go to the vet – I play with the office cat there – yeah!
We did go to the doc yesterday (but I did not even see the cat) and the doc took one look at me and said, “Ouch -Charlie B you have everted your penis tip with your mounting behavior”. Then she looks at my mom and says that possibly I had a chemical reaction to something I rubbed it against. Long story short, I had to have a pain injection and then stay there for a while and they did all sorts of things I did not like (they even put sugar inside my penis – apparently this reduces inflammation (who would have thought??). Then everything was cleaned out. 2 hrs 24 minutes later I was ready to go home. When my mom came in, I did not make eye contact with her. I am mad she brought me in for this. We went home and I laid around for the rest of the day. I did not feel like eating or drinking. I did go outside with my mom and dad for wine time, but I just wanted to lay on the chaise with my tiger. As you can see from the photo, I was not happy!
Update this morning ~ I still feel bad and still do not want to eat. My mom found the antibiotics she thought I swallowed last night in my muzzle this morning when she was brushing my head and now she is not happy about that! The doc called to see how I am doing a few minutes ago and she suggested my mom try putting the pills in a piece of hot dog. Yikes, is she kidding! My mom is cooking me some chicken and rice right now hoping I will want to eat. I think I just want to rest for a while. I am sore and so tired.
Have any of you other doods had this experience?
Oh, by the way, I heard my mom and dad talking and they agreed if they see me even considering humping, they will be working as a team to redirect me.
Oh that is just great – I think my humping days are over,
Charlie Brown

Wow--it sounds like you had a "ruff" day!! I guess you have to stop humping but it could be tough especially with a new puppy coming into the house! Or is it a human brother you are getting??
Maybe I could come over for humping lessons--I am supposed to be a stud dog, but I never hump anything or anyone! Sometimes I get a little excited by females that smell funny, but mom says I am jumping on the wrong end--I can't help it, I am still very young! Oh well...Hope you feel better soon.

Wow Charlie! My mom said she was glad I was a girl Doodle! I am glad you are feeling better and my DM said your picture is really, really sweet, but you do look a little sad:( Doodle kisses to you from Libby!
Charlie, I am sorry you hurt yourself and had to go to the vet. My mom said that she has a great nickname for you since they put sugar on your penis, but I can't say it because I don't say naughty words. My mom says I tried the humping thing a couple of times before I was fixed. Dood, I didn't even know I was broken. Hope you feel better soon, keep making your mom feel bad and there will be lots of yummy treats. Your Pal, Quincy
I hope you feel better, Charlie Brown! You sure are a good looking Dood!!!
Hugs and Kisses, Cocoa
UPDATE: Thanks to each and everyone of you for your comments and concern you have shown Charlie in regards to his major trama yesterday. I am getting quite concerned because the last meal he ate was yesterday (Wed) morning. Since his visit to the doctor, he has not wanted to eat and or drink. He finally licked some ice cubes and then drank about 1/3 cup of water about an hour ago. I doubt he has consumed even a half of cup of water for the whole day. He would not eat breakfast or lunch today and he acts like he does not trust the food I am setting down. He smells and smells it, but does touch it. I even cooked him some lean ground beef and he would not even touch it. When the vet called today, she suggest putting his meds in a hot dog piece, so out I went to get hot dogs. I got the all beef ones and he would not touch it and I had not put any meds in it! Just a few minutes ago, my DH got him to each a small bite of peanut butter cookie and then he wanted no more. We do have a followup appointment tomorrow a.m. and I am hoping he will relent and eat something before we go. He acts depressed and really wants no eye contact with me - he just lowers his head (like a pathetic little donkey). I do not know if this is because he has some pain or if it is a trust issue. His food stand looks like a smorgasboard! I have run out of ideas! Maybe the vet can help tomorrow.
Thanks again everyone.
Linda, I'd call the vet tomorrow. Charlie's behavior does not sound like it's a trust issue, it sounds like pain or illness to me. Is he drinking water?
Thanks Karen. I have a follow-up appt at 10:45 a.m. He is just not acting at all like himself and I am worried. He has probably had maybe 1/2 cup of water today at the most. I am trying to get him to lick ice cubes and he does for a minute and then just quits. I see Vivian below suggested smart water, I will try that. I can hardly wait for tomorrow a.m.
We will be thinking of you both and hoping it's nothing serious.
Give him pedialyte or smart water so the little bit of water he drinks will hydrate him more. Good luck.
Thanks for the suggestion Vivian.
Another option is frozen juice bars. When Jane's Murpht was sick, he wouldn't drink water, but he would eat a juice bar. Recently, Donna added some apple juice to Quincy's water when he was sick and that got him to drink, too.
Ok Karen - I will try that. I did get the 1/2 tab of rimadyl down him at 9:30 - I think that is for pain according to the rx. (Lord, I found this morning's stuck in the hair on his leg this evening!) We are going to bed soon and hopefully things will be looking up in the a.m. Will post update upon our return from doctor.I do so appreciate your suggestions. Going to try a little apple juice in his water and then heading to bed.
