Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I have been looking at other goldendoodle forums on the web and I'm shocked at  how mean people can be about this breed. What is it about the Doodles that get people all riled up ?. It's a little scary..lol I wanted to post on some of these forums but was too afraid that they would eat me up and spit me out! I figure I don't know enough to defend myself.. I am curious, what do you say to people who are blatantly rude  to you? I know one thing though..I skedaddled out of there quickly and came running back here lol

I wonder how much of it is due to the business they are losing--doodles are getting so popular that it has to be eating into the business of breeding purebreds. After all, as wonderful as labs and goldens are, who wants all that hair all over the place? People are looking for a solution to that but for some reason there is a prejudice against poodles in many cases--they are mistakenly labelled as "fru-fru" dogs. And even though terriers do not shed, they are also often misunderstood as somewhat hyper and over teritorial. Poeple just aren't that educated when it comes to dogs..

Seems to me that many breeds started out as crosses between other pure breeds of dogs.  Now those dogs are accepted as "pure" breeds.  To me, it seems that when I can start recognizing a dog as a doodle, then it must be on its way to becoming a "true" new breed of dog!

Mostly I try to avoid confrontations regarding rude remarks about doodles, however I really like the "Why do you care?" response and will keep that for times when a confrontation cannot be avoided. Don't worry about defending yourself or doodles.  Our dogs don't care about other people's opinions.

Check out how people talk about pit bulls. :S

I don't get much of that, thankfully.  And when I do, it's usually a breeder.  Some don't realize the health testing and care that goes into these dogs.. Others seem to be angry/jealous at the high cost of some of these dogs.  If someone calls him a designer dog ... I might tell them that labradoodles began as guide dogs for the blind and many are therapy dogs...or I might ignore them..  But bottom line is I really don't think I have to justify Finnegan's existence to anybody.  He doesn't care what someone calls him :) Most people who are around him for any length of time, fall in love. You'll see when you have your own pup:)) I don't have much experience with other internet forums because people can be just plain stupid on the internet, so I mostly avoid forums...except for DK :)
