Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
The response to the 1st Doodle Cruise has been wonderful. As we look to planning the next one - which needs to start now - Adina & Clark have asked that I gather some information from past cruisers and those that have interest in the next cruise. Please answer the questions and post below.
#1. I would prefer to cruise in
1a. Oct. 2013
or
1b. Jan/Feb. 2014
or
1c. Just tell me when and I'll be there
*weather could be a factor in either choice, Oct. is still hurrican season but on the tail end, Jan/Feb might cause travel problems for those in the north. Oct. is considered more "off season" so would be slightly cheaper

#2. I would be willing to sail on
2a. Carnival
or
2b. Celebrity
or
2c. Just tell me what ship and I'm on it
**Carnival is a little less expensive, is the party cruise line, more casual, more smoking (we can minimize the effects by booking cabins together)
***Celebrity is a little more money but smoking is WAY less, no Casino or Balcony smoking but it is a bit more upscale - you'd be expected to follow the guidelines for dinner attire (resort chic - slacks and nice shirt for dinner, capris, skirt or dress for women - formal night - suit for men and cocktail dress for ladies)
*************************************************************************************************************
#3. I would prefer to sail out of (these are possible itineraries and cannot be guaranteed)
3a. Ft Lauderdale - for a Caribbean destination ( Key West, Grand Cayman & Ochio Rios, Jamaica)
or
3b. I would prefer to sail out of Los Angles for a Mexican Riviera destination (Cabo San Lucas & Puerto Vallarta, Mexico)
or
3c. I would prefer to sail out of Miami for a Caribbean destination (Grand Turk, Ochio Rios-Jamaica, Nassua-Bahamas)
*********************************************************************************************
#4. I would consider a
4a. 5 night cruise
or
4b. 6 night cruise
or
4c. either
************************************************************************************************
Thank you for your input

That would be great if we could all have dinner together!
There are Spa Deck cabins - with balcony that are non-balcony smoking - there is an additional fee of almost $12.00 p.p. per day. There are no suites on this deck.
ONCE booking begins - if you really want to be where no one can smoke on either side of you - jump on these cabins - there are only about 12 of them.
If you choose not to spend the extra money the rest of us will be trying to "group" cabins together to minimize the chance of smoke on our balconies.
What kind of per person price are we looking at? Say for a suite with a balcony?
It varies but this will give you an idea, this is a 6 night cruise - prices change, depends on the deck, etc.
Inside cabin starts around $414.00
Ocean View starts around $489.00
Balcony cabins start at around $609. per person /double occupancy
Junior Suite are in the $889. range on up
Ocean Suite $1,039.
Hope this helps. There are some taxes and gratuties are added while you are on the cruise. This covers food and some beverages - coffee, tea
Alcohol and soda pop is extra
Hope this helps - it is actually pretty inexpensive if you factor a daily charge for a hotel room and all that food plus free entertainment.
Thanks Jane. My girlfriend is cruising out of Miami on Norweigian going to Cayman, Cozumel, and Jamaica for 7 nights in March. She paid $749 per person for Balcony. Sounds like the prices are similar. She says they have casual anytime dining as well....just throwing that out there in case you haven't considered Norweigian. Okay, that's the last you'll hear from me about that...LOL...just tell me when and where to show up.
It is nice to have something to look forward to.
How did the Destiny compare? I can't even remember.
Ours was less than that but ours was only a 5 night.
These prices are way less expensive than small ship prices, I can tell you that.
Jane, for an Ocean Suite, what would the price per person be if there were 3 people in the suite?
I'm thinking we paid full fare for Tim.....there's no break for adding the third as I recall. Our suite was really large, and three worked very comfortably.
Darn...that doesn't seem fair at all. I would think they would just need to add the cost of an interior room (enough to cover food/etc) to the price of a 2 person and average out.
Let me dig up our paperwork to be absolutely sure, but that's what I recall.
