I saw the infomercial on TV about the Perfect dog collar & I was wondering if anyone here has tried this or is it all hipe.
Bindi is a very good dog, except she barks a lot. I saw on the commercial that it can help with barking.
I have tried a few things like the sonic collar & a spray bottle annd those things did'nt really work after a few times. The collar didn't seem to bother her and the spray bottle worked the first few times, but then she seemed to almost like it. I don't believe in the shock collars.
I'm trying a new thing that I saw online. It's a distraction technique. You throw a small bottle with coins in it near the dog, it's suppose to distract them. I also say enough. This way I will eventually stop with bottle & she will stop the barking when I say enough. I just want to stop unwanted continuing barking.
Let me know what you think? If the collar has an spikes in it I won't use it. I won't cause her any pain to her.

Do you have a link to the product description?
Stay away -far away from the "perfect dog collar and system". They are part of a large group of products that are of a dubious nature.
The perfect dog collar is just a variation on several dog collars that are available from reliable sources. They work on the principle of a tightening collar, but with fabric/non metal or leather.
I ordered or rather tried to order one of them for a dog my son got from a rescue who was very intolerant of any type of collar, harness, gentle leader. Their website is designed to be difficult and not function well. It sends you to a myriad of their products as you try to check out. I ended up with several hundred dollars billed to my credit card for multiple collars, videos, leashes, steam mops and silverware. All I wanted was one collar! I immediately called by credit card company and they were very helpful and cleaned up the whole mess for me with one phone call/ followed by a letter advising me to have no further contact in any way even if I got collection letters etc. - because they had so many complaints from this company that they were mounting an investigation against them. I did document my website experience for them by phone and letter.
I wrote "refused" on all the stuff that showed up on my porch. I did keep and pay for one of the collars as that is what I meant to order. It was just a slip collar made poorly of heavy fabric. Better slip collars are easily available (leather or nylon webbing)through any large well known pet product company. I call them slip collars, but I think that is not quite the right name. Maybe someone else will know the actual name. Basically it is a collar with two rings to which the leash is hooked. If you pull or the dog pulls it will tighten on their neck. When not pulling the collar slips to the looser position. I cannot imagine how this would help with barking unless you kept the leash fastened to it.
One of my dogs Roo is a barker. We taught him to get a zogoflex bone( really durable rubber bones) when we came home to keep him from grabbing our hands. He got so much praise for getting the bone that he loves to get it and its helps with his barking. I tell him to "get bone" which distracts him like your coins and then because he has grown to attached to it he keeps it in his mouth and it is much harder to make a lot of noise if his mouth is full of his rubber bone. Tigger who is younger and was never taught to "get bone" nor is he particularily attached to it, but he has learned to get bone to greet people and when Roo starts barking -LOL
Wow, what a scam.
We have had some success (although not perfect) with barking using two things we learned in a recent private training session that we took. For inside we use "ENOUGH". When they bark you just say ENOUGH, I've got it and then you go claim the space and look outside or where ever and tell them ok, ENOUGH, I've got it. For outside we have a string of tin cans. If say they are at the fence barking, we would just toss the cans up high in the air to land in the area of where they are barking. Supposedly, they think the cans fell from the sky as an indication that they should not be doing what they are doing, then you go in to reassure them that all is ok, and tell them no bark. We only had to do this a couple times and now the sight of the cans is enough. Sounds crazy, but those tin cans have been a miracle cure around our house. We have very minimal barking (compared to before) outside. The cans work for COME if they happen to be distracted by something (like rabbit poo) and aren't coming when I call. I just give the cans a little shake and in they come. If they do happen to bark at some at the fence, just a little shake of the cans gets their attention and they stop. Sophie will now just sit at the fence and watch the dog next door rather than bark at him. Lucy also has a tendency to want to jump up and sit on the lap of some folks (like my Dad) when they visit. I just say here, hold these cans and she won't jump up. They really hate those cans.
If you want to go the way of distraction you can do it via a correction collar. I hate using the term "shock" collar because they really do not shock. I have a collar and have trained with it but only in the "beep" mode. I have the setting at 1 which is lile putting your tounge on a battery. I have even put the collar on myself and put it at the highest setting and it does not cause pain or hurt in any way its just a wierd feeling at the highest setting. At the lowest setting it kind of tickles... if you every had physical therapy.. the therapist uses this roller type thingie that they roll over your muscles and it has a electrical current to relax your muscles well this is what the Petsafe brank collar is like. When my Ollie starts jumping all I have to do is tell him I'm getting the collar and he stops or all I have to do is just put the collar on him. When I take him for walks he pulls at times so I just beep the collar and he stops. The beep distracts him from what ever unwanted behavior he is doing. In no way would I ever cause my doodles harm, but I have had such success with the correction collar and you can use it via a remote. So if you are in another room and Bindi is barking all you would have to do is hit the beep button and she will stop.
Thanks for the sugestions. I thought the collar was too good to be true. I think I'll continue the distraction method for now.
