Does anyone own a waterproof camera and what are your thoughts on the one you have?  My DD has many cameras, but wants a waterproof one for Christmas. Any help or guidance would be appreciated!  Thank you!!

I used to have a Nikon underwater camera.  It didn't have a special housing; it looked like a regular camera.  I was diving in Fiji and dropped it.  It floated down so far that as I went after it I thought my head (and lungs) would explode.  Sounds like the device to make it float would be a really good idea.

Thanks, Linda. Were you able to get the camera? Yes, I think it would definitely have to float.

Yes, I did get it!  Wish I knew what I did with it, but then, I haven't been scuba diving for ten years.

Someday, it will turn up :)

On my honeymoon we just used a disposable underwater camera.  Certainly, not as good as the pictures here, but good enough at the time.  I think the camera was $11.99

Opps, that last picture was one of the bloopers.  But still, you get the idea with the under $20.00 gift  :)

These are really neat!! Thank you for sharing.

No advice but that sounds like an awesome gift!

I was looking into this several months ago. The advice I got from my scuba friends is to use a regular camera with a waterproof casing like Kimmy suggested. They also said that because it is dark underwater they have to use off camera flash. When I was researching it I was having a Seth Casteel wanna be moment.......Since she will want a camera that is fast and capable of capturing good action shots I think using a waterproof casing for a regular camera is the best bet. Would I try that on my current camera? Probably not....just in case. Can't wait to see what you/she decide on. I have put the idea to rest until next summer:)
