We have a 5 hour drive to bring our puppy home and I am wondering if he is sitting on my lap or should he be in his crate ? Also, since he is so young should he be feed somewhere in that 5 hours or is he more likely to get car sick ?
Thank you, Kris

Thanks! I've been off work almost a week so playing catch up. I promise I'll post pics as soon as I can. :-)
Patti, how exciting. I bet you are really busy right now. I can't wait to see pictures. Did you pick him or did the breeder choose for you ?
I picked him. I saw his pic online. It was funny cause he had been advertised for 4 weeks before I saw him, along with his brothers and sisters that were left. After I expressed an interest she had 2 other families contact her about him. He was way down in Clearwater, Fla. It was a long trip so I asked if she would do a short video for me. (I didn't want to repeat the TN incident). She sent like 6 videos plus about 50 emails. What a difference between her and the lady in TN. I was looking for a mellow dog and this guy is Mr. Mellow. He is 13 weeks old now. Since I've had him he has learned to ring the bell for potty, sit, working on down, and working on walking on a leash without carrying it in his mouth. LOL He seems really really smart. He sleeps all night long by my bed (not in a crate) without accidents. He is like the perfect puppy for me. Today is the first day I've had to leave him home alone cause I had to come back to work. My son will be home from work about 2pm though and I will go home at lunch.
The breeder says he was waiting for me. I knew within a minute that he was the ONE. You guys were right about that. I'm so glad I didn't talk myself into buying the TN puppy. This one stole my heart from the moment I saw him online. I did see him before I went to TN and had asked if he was still available. I also told the breeder my story and that I might be getting a puppy in TN. She wrote back and said she hoped it was the perfect puppy and to send me pics. Anyway, as you know, the TN puppy didn't work out - this guy was meant to be mine. No doubt about it.
I love that, he was meant to be yours. My puppy will be born on Nov. 9th, I can't wait either. Now we are buying all the stuff and doing all the research.
Thanks for your story, it helps alot.

Like you, I started to make plans for Charlotte's arrival long before she joined our family. I flew home with her from Kentucky to Massachusetts; she stayed in a soft-sided travel crate by my feet in the plane's cabin. After the flight, we rendezvoused with my husband and six-year-old doodle, Wally, at a grassy area outside one of Logan Airport's hotels. Charlotte had a chance to meet her new big brother and my husband, relieve herself, have a drink, and stretch a bit. Ten minutes later, we drove to the Cape (almost two hours) with Charlotte on a blanket on my lap in the front passenger seat. My husband drove and Wally travelled in the back seat. She napped for most of the ride. We did stop mid-way, but she didn't have to eliminate. We offered her a little food when we got home, but not beforehand. She was very comfortable on my lap. I didn't want to put her down, so putting her in a carrier or crate was not even an option! I was very happy that she cooperated!
